Default Scion TC Stock Key

I have a issue and need some knowledge abt it.

I have a 05 TC and my key plastic was wearing off. Seeing that the key's plastic is of same shape as RAV 4 and Camry, i ordered one key from ebay which belonged to an Rav4. I opened up the plastic and changed the keys and the transponders. But when i try to start the car, it just cranks and dosent start. If i put the key and transponder back in the orignal plastic, it works fine. Though the car door does open up while the steel key and transponder are in new plastic case. But the engine just cranks and dosent starts.

It seems that apart from the transponder and the steel key, everything else is just plastic. Is there something in that plastic?

Please Help.

you can just cut the key portion off and put thefob on your keychain if you want. looks tacky but it works.... try holding the original key close to the ignition and start the car with the new key.

without hacking it? no.

you can have the dealership program the new key to the ECU, but as far as them being nice to not charge you for the labor? depends.
