Default Treadstone w/o Management

Has anyone installed the Treadstone kit with the upgraded turbo? I've heard a bunch of people have run the kit successfully without management and I'm trying to determine if I can run the kit with low boost until I get management. The upgraded turbo is a T3/T4 E50 comp wheel and .63 A/R.

I'm sure plenty of people will say I'd never run w/o management yada yada but since people have used the kit without management I'm trying to determine the difference running a larger turbo than the base kit comes with. I think part of my confusion is the fact that I don't know what the difference is between 5psi on one turbo vs another. Any help would be appreciated.

I would stay at very low boost. They claim that their "fuel management" is the slightly larger injectors and the "tuned MAF". They normally pair this up with a T3 turbo - not a T3/T4 hybrid.

Be safe and ask for the kit with a smaller spring. Get yourself a wideband O2 and when everything is installed, keep a good eye on your AFR.

so you can just add lager injectors to a tc with a tc and it will run with out the piggy back adjusting the air/fuel curve

no it just compansates for the injectors.... basically you will run the same psi through your injectors whether they are 350cc or 500cc..... with the bigger injectors it just dumps fuel through wich makes it run ok at boost... not efficiantly but run... your thinking its like a standalone where it will compansate for evrything...... the TC ECM doesnt have very big perameters so I dont know if I would run more than 5lbs.... my friend is running a tredstone kit with no ECU and it runs ok but not optimum

yeah I would say so... but most other kits come with engine management... I guess the build it yourself kits dont but I would highly recommend it... you dont have to get top of the line but It would be wise to use some type... even a basic blue emanage would let you do more than your stock ECU

I would say dont run without managment with the upgraded turbo or ask treadstone. But honestly without managment i would be boostign very much even if treadstone said it was ok. Just my .02

Default hope this helps!

If you plan on modifying the kit that treadstone provides there are some factors to look into. If you are going to use a larger turbo and you want more power then you will want to use some sort of E-manage. In my case I’m going with the AEM EMS Stand alone. ****Not cheap but worth every penny!!!!! With the Stand alone you have to have a separate switch made to run the AC. If you use any E-manage you have to get rid of the Velocity stack MAF. You will have to get a new charge pipe in order to lower the MAF back to the stock position. If you use the stand alone the MAF doesn’t matter and you will not even use it at all. In my case I will use the AEM UEGO (wide band) used to tune A/F ratio. The uego works with the stand alone to alow the tuner to tune the car better. The velocity MAF is what treadstone uses to tune their kit. It isn’t good to use it if you plan on doing big changes to the kit. With that said, if you want more power and reliability go with a larger turbo, meth injection, e-manage (or Standalone), larger injectors and a wallbro 255 fuel pump, and a good tune…..

^^ so the AC now works with the aem standalone using a separate switch? thats good news.. but I've heard it still uses the MAF but not for the main purpose of tuning or metering the air

I had to get my tuner to look into it and they called AEM and they told them all they had to do was hook up a switch to run the AC cause the EMS will not controle it. As far as i know the EMS dosent use the MAF; it uses the EUGO to mesure the A/F.

The MAF doesn't measure A/F. It measures air flow. The EMS uses a MAP sensor for air pressure instead of mass flow.

yup aem standalone tunes using manifold pressure (MAP) but someone mentioned that with you still need to have the maf connected, i couldnt remember what the function was..
