Has anyone removed thir A/C and replaced OEM belt with a shorter belt?
If so, what belt size? - I have recently done this and need a new belt size.

Ive already removed it lol just pain in the ars getting the right belt - I live in Buffalo so heats not a prob too often - Didnt use it once this past summer - shorter belt = quicker revs - and a small amount of weight reduction - I also posted on the N/A part and they just gave me sht - saying im lying about all my additions - I cant get into my profile if my life depended on it - I even read the help portion to do it,

This is almost the riceyist thread on SL. Well actually it is, besides all the posts in the drivetrain and power and the aero and exterior sections this would actually qualify for the biggest ricer thread on SL.
Congratulations!

I think its only worth getting the AC removed if:
A. You are going to put a bigger engine in it.
B. You need space for your big butt turbo.
C. If your car is a race car.

Ok, some of you guys are being total **** holes, really;)

Just maybe this guy is into real performance and just does not need an AC, taking weight off like that is far less costly a real performance upgrade than most of you seem to comprehend. Far to man prefer to believe by all the false BS advertising going on and have little or no real world experience, really again.

I am far from being some king of mod guru, I learn new things every day, have done many things most have never heard of or considered and yet, I wish I knew more though I have been modding imports for 40+ years now.

------------------

That said, take your old belt, install it, pull it as tight as you can while holding the tensioner down all the way and then mark the belt where it overlaps itself.

Subtrack around 5mm, this should be pretty close, you may not need to subtract that amount.

I did this on my real race car TC and did not pull the tensioner all the way, ended up a tad off but it works fine.

Sorry about my typo's, etc, I spent the prior 10+ hours working non stop on my business, on the phone, packing and shipping orders since my son went off to college doing his job as well as mine, making deals, setting up a winter Kart racing series, working with two manf on my product lines, ordering parts for my tC race car, etc........

I am 56 and get more done each day than most would consider possible and I love modding and racing my tC more than my $100k+ Vette race car(which I am getting ready to part out and sell, the tC is far more challenging and thus rewarding

Anyway, please think before you slam somebody for wanting to make his car loose a bit of weight, especially in the front of a nose heavy FWD. If you know true performance then you know weight is the number one enemy and especially so if it helps in the overall weight distribution (50/50 is not always idea either, depending on the platform, intended use, etc)

---------

Of course if you are a drag racer the extra weight, or not taking any off, the nose can help get a bit more grip off the line but it may effect your overall trap speed and or ET, depending on many things of course.

----------

I wish I could take some of you guys through a few of the more hairy corners at my local track, it would scare the crap out of you I am sure, it does it to me!!!

i took off my ac. has no purpose for me, it's heavy and the weight is in the absolute wrong place. I will try to remember to post the belt size on our TA tC as the ac has been removed...
