View Full Version : Brake Screech? tCaZ 08-26-2008, 02:48 AM When my friend made a U-turn to the left today, you can hear a brake or screeching noise. Any1 know whats up? asthmatic 08-29-2008, 03:24 PM man how fast is he driving when u-turning? tCaZ 08-29-2008, 09:42 PM man how fast is he driving when u-turning? not fast at all. nebster 08-30-2008, 01:52 AM you sure its brakes? and not warn tires, brakes don't care what direction you're moving, now my bald ___ tires screeched when i turned even at low speeds but not my brakes tCaZ 08-30-2008, 07:04 AM tires are 2 months old hiximrichard 08-30-2008, 07:10 AM actually this is also one of my problems except my brakes screech without and turning.. is this because of my tire wear? tCaZ 08-30-2008, 08:23 PM the tires are still good and new though BlkTC 09-01-2008, 07:39 AM either rotors warped and no pads.. uneven wear or something.. you probably need to get under the car and examine the brake pads.. if it's metal on metal.. switch them out asap. tCaZ 09-01-2008, 09:11 PM ok ty. do u have estimate on cost if that was the problem? Ace83 09-01-2008, 09:24 PM yeah check the rotors if its warped or if the brakes are worn.. you might also check the wheel bearing, a bad one can cause the calipers to rub with rotors and score it really bad but the noise more of a grinding, metal rubbing noise.. if its a screeching noise, i bet its the tires equinox2355 09-01-2008, 09:27 PM I have the squeal from my brakes, but only some of the time when im braking (probably 75% of the time). Its annoying but I haven't been able to get my car on a lift to take a look. tCaZ 09-01-2008, 10:31 PM jeez, sounds expensive. Coolwaterz 09-03-2008, 03:29 AM is it a loud sharp screeching noise? i noticed a little rubbing when i turn and brake. especially hard turns. could it be your calipers? BlkTC 09-03-2008, 04:00 AM maybe you have hawk pads.. hps plus. ceramic pads will eat up your rotors.. i don't know what you have.. but an estimated cost could be quite expensive.. new front rotors and new pads.. maybe 270 give or take.. orrr, you can pm me on a hook up for all four rotors and brake pads for less than that... tCaZ 09-03-2008, 11:16 PM ok i will have my body shop check it out, im getting my break calipers painted though sciontc_mich 09-04-2008, 07:16 AM are you holding the steering wheel at full lock, where it doesn't stop anymore when this noise happens? tCaZ 09-05-2008, 12:34 AM i dont think so, but there is a posibility. |
