I drive on 880 with all those semis and crazy suv drivers, and I still have yet to find a rock chip on my car @_@ Maybe because the traffic is to slow for those rocks to fly :D

The paint job on my XA is the worst I've ever seen! It is possible that it was repainted since I bought it leftover/used from the dealership with 6K on it. -but it has orangepeel in several areas of the rear quarters..

orangepeel is common on all scion paintjobs , they skimp on the paint to give a betetr deal on other items.

Went to school for body work for 4 years.. I know a few things..

And more than likely.. Robots/machines are paintin the cars

What grit sandpaper would you wetsand it with? 1500? 2500? and if I buff it what polishing compound would you use ? Thanks

i've done 600, and used a glazing polish....(turned out great...)

i also use a hand glaze instead of wax....

He's pretty much all makes/models have orange peel. My 01 Jag had it. Not as bad but it did. Some aren't as bad as others and some people prolly just don't don't notice it. And yes robots paint our cars/trucks. BUt yeah you can git rid of by wetsanding. I wouls find a bodyshop that did that or knew something about doing it.

<500 miles in Los Angles, and my xA already has one chipped bit on the front hood. Probably from some rock that got tossed up from the cars in front. Can't do much about that given that the hood isn't as flat as on a regular sedan (where rocks can't do a straight strike on most of the hood area from the front). It's going to be like driving a minivan - the front will pick up just about everything at full speed, and chips are going to happen.

Still, makes me wonder if the paint could be better?
