ok, so i started with D1G1T4L's write up (http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=235497) on how to swap an oem wheel for a quick release set up. took about 30 minutes.
after that i began the hunt for a solution for cruise control. my gf lives 2 hours away and i do the drive every weekend so with out CC
opened the wire bundle with all the wires for everything in the column (wipers, turn signals, CC, radio controls, air bag) i taped up the air bag wires and tucked them out of the way.
then i moved the the bundle with the spiral cable input wires to the new spiral cable location.
then i took the harness that goes from the spiral cable to the stock wheel and extended the wires for the CC.
then plugged in the harness and then the CC, test drive, still works.
now i am i working on a new mounting location for the CC lever. i think i got it but im not sure yet. gona play with that over the next few days and see what i come up with.
ill post pics and updates once its all done.
next up is moving the audio controls to the door... why? ... why not?
this could prolly all be done without retaining the spiral cable bundle but if you ever want to put a stock wheel back in, prolly better to not cut the whole factory harness.
notes:
this doesnt fix the air bag light
this doesnt fix the turn signal auto return
and i cant figure out the horn on the personal wheel to see if i can get that to work lol.
ok, i got everything done.

first i trimmed the mounting holes off of the CC unit to give me a little extra space:

After:

then a cut a hole in the side of the plastic to stick in the CC unit:

used a 3/4" grommet to "finish" the opening.
used double sided tape to hold it in place (its a snug fit between the plastic and another harness so tape is more then enough): (pics of other harness)

after doing this, it may have been smarter to put it on the other side, lol. but that would just be odd....:
pics with ebay flip key and oem key... both go in and come out just fine, just have to hold them a little differently to get (my) hand around the lever:

***interior is getting repainted BSP, to get rid of all the red! thats why its not in in the after pics, has nothing to do with the install***
on a side note, to those with aftermarket Hubs/wheels... what are you doing to cover the gap? or do you rock the gap?
