so why do my speakers pop when its really cold outside

but its fine when its above 50 degrees outside...

and how can i fix this problem?

i nvr heard of that happening....

 

yes pop when i'm playing my music it pop then the speaker ( front drivers side) comes alive and after a few minutes later iut starts to make a popping sound

 

maybe something is loose....

You have a pinched copper connection. When the temp gets cold enough the copper wire contracts just enough to separate the connection... when the area heats up, the copper reconnects. It's simple to diagnose, hard to isolate where the problem actually is though.

The easiest way to fix this issue is to trace the wire back through the harnesses and replace the problematic wires.

 

i did put some aftermarket speakers in and they are crimped together where they were cut

so all i have to do is tighten down the crimps some more?

 

Very possible that could be the problem. Also, double check that your basket is not grounding out against the door frame.

 

what do you mean basket?

 

The wire connecting to the voicecoil from the pos/neg terminals. If the terminals are grounding out at all, you will hear pops in colder weather from the change in copper. Try pulling the speaker out of the door and see if there are any more pops like you mentioned.

Rock on man... my fingers are numb from installing a few things here... 30 degrees right now.

 

heh haven't done it yet gonna wait till it warms up a bit

instead of recrimping it i'll just solder 'em together

welp i soldered 'em all and one of the set of wires were just about grounded to the door from them being pinched i took care of that problem

 

good to know....glad it worked out...

 

dunno if it works just yet.. have to wait till it gets cold again in a few days

i also got most of the metal shards off the magnets on the speakers

 

I'm pretty sure it should be okay now that the grounding is taken care of.
