ok, so if i understand this right, when your at full throttle or almost there, a valve opens up in the exhaust to let more exhaust out, thus unleashing more power from the engine...
i don't own a tC yet....but
is it possible to keep this valve open all the time? reason being, i like a car that you can hear the engine a little more than stock. It helps me with shifting. my car has an intake on it and i love the throaty sound i get from it. does having this valve open give you a different sound?

- The 2-way muffler has a variable exhaust valve that reduces pressure under max load acceleration. The valve opens gradually near 3000 rpm depending on amount of throttle being applied.

i'm sure it would be possible to open all of the time but it would not beb benificial. It would lower your tq. The valve has been optimized to open at the rpm where it would produce more hp withouth losing tq.
