I have an Avic-F90BT installed in a '08 Scion tC. I just recently moved my bluetooth mic from one of the aux ports to the front of the steering wheel since people on the other end weren't hearing me well. The mic should be at a optimal position, why I am still getting people saying they hear echoes and a lot of background noise? Any help will be appreciated.

I tried everywhere with the same problem, finally found a spot.........you need to loosen up the Apillar a bit and run the mic up the back side of the pillar to the headliner......and clip it to the headliner, like right where oil places put the oil change stickers.......right there

All my call s since then have been clear as a bell.

The first place I wanted to put the mic was through the a-pillar and in the corner. But I didn't want to mess with the air bag. I still don't understand why the poor quality when the mic is right on front of you. Is something wrong w/the mic? Thanks though

It will be fine behind the pillar, the bag only goes about 7" down from the headliner into the pillar, most of it is empty,it is very flexable and can be pulled out just a bit from the top and wire tucked neatly behind and all the way down,or the dealership sells the clips for like $2.45 that hold the pillar in place on the pins and it is easy to do.Nothing wrong with the mic, just seems to be how they work, also you can mount it intothe dome light and it picks up voice pretty good, but also the wire has to pass up the Apillar.

Well I mounted mine here:

Seems to work fine. If you are getting an echo try turning down the volume or changing settings on the HU.
