I take it that the top two pictures are the new pics? 'Cause it's a completely different setup than the bottom 3. Especially since the top pics have Vortech on the side of the blower and are minus the stock air box.

Looks like the top 2 pics have a CAI. I also read somewhere that Vortech makes the TRD s/c.......can someone confirm this?

I have had those top two pics on my computer since last June. I dont think any of them are that new. Still, enough to make my mouth water when I see them though.

Look closely, you can see "VORTECH" written on the side in the first pic. Now the question is, when will this be released and are we still looking at a 40HP improvement or have things been improved...

[quote= Now the question is, when will this be released and are we still looking at a 40HP improvement or have things been improved...[/quote]

only a few people know and they are not talking. i herd about 40 for stage 1, however my dealer said they needed to get more than 40hp. they wanted to get hp up to 220. i guess i will find out when it comes out.

TRD wants to make sure our Tc will be faster than the cobalt and redline ION

That would be sweeeeet. How would this impact clutch slip, would it be best to upgrade to the TRD clutch kit?

You mean the carbon fiber engine cover? You can get it from your Scion dealership.

Sure, if you're not concerned about your warranty.

Sweet pics!

Will it come covered?

The system is covered by a TRD 5 year/60,000 mile warranty when installed by a Scion dealer and is emissions legal in all 50 states.

This pic shows some of the kit but not all of it . It will also come with a piggyback ECU instead of a flash reprogram that they had orig. planed on . The good thing about the piggyback ECU you can install it yourself . With a flash reprogram of the ECU it would almost have to be done at the dealer . (Which we would love to do but I know there are a lot that would rather do the work their self)

Just to make sure but wouldn't the piggyback ecu need to be installed by a dealership to maintain the warranty?

I am pretty sure that the answer is yes and the comment about the ECU as a piggyback would be better for future Scion owners or ones installing themselves.

Yeah but if he had of started a new thread to discuss he would have been yelled at for not searching. So I commend the guy that bumped the thread.....this is why people dont search because if they bump and old thread people are less likely to get involved in the thread from a year ago.

oh... I didn't know that... but, I'm def. going to get the S/C in the summer. I was wondering, is it a big different between stock 160hp and S/C 200hp? (only a few % increase of horsepower)

Nice... IMO, I'd go with the CAI.

It is well worth it and its not a jump from 160 hp to 200 hp..

Its a jump from about 135 whp -195whp
Or a jump from about 160 chp- (aprox) 220 chp

I think its well worth it, but nothing drastic that I have to worry about problems with maintenance or sudden wheel spin when driving normally.

Batjew

i haven't driven a S/C myself, Zoltiz won't let me :D but a better BPV and one of the aftermarket pulleys are a must when you get the s/c you certainly feel the difference then, the stock s/c you barely feel anything till you redline, which just causes more wear on the engine.

Sorry, I just thought it was funny. All out of fun and games. A simple search on "supercharger and octane" would have pulled up at least 20 matches. My point is people don't take advantage of the search function on this forum and all it leads to is 1,000 posts on "which intake is better?". You mods end up locking these threads anyway. Just trying to make it easier for you guys.

Obviously, TRD intends on you using the updated air intake box when you install the supercharger. You would figure they would promote using the S/C with their CAI.
I called TRD, and the person I spoke with didn't sound real knowledgeable. He could only tell me that TRD only recommends running the updated box and not the CAI. He couldn't tell me if there were problems with usina a CAI with the S/C.
I have seen pics that show running a CAI with the S/C install.
Anybody have info/opinions/problems, etc???
I'll apologize in advance if this has been discussed, but I could not find this topic here.
Thanks.
