What can i do, My Third Brake Light went out tonight!?
Hey guys.
As the title states my third brake light went out tonight. I was looking for the size of the bulb online and couldn't seem to find much. The only site that i could find stated that it was an assembly, is this true? Do i have to replace my entire third brake light?
To me this seems like a stupid design, to make the light/bulb one unit? The car is an 06 and has 58,000 miles. Its under warranty until 100,000 but I'm positive that toyota isn't going to cover the light. Considering its a wear item.
What does the scionlife community and there vast knowledge know about this subject?

it is a full assembly. they are led's. wierd that they would all go out at once tho. like someone said check the connector first. its not hard to check. i forgot which one it is but pop one of those square plastic covers off on the underside of the trunk. the connector is right in view.
yeah just take the opportunity and buy the full third brake light. you'll be much happier.

Unless you have been standing on the brakes since the day you bought your car, the lights shouldn't have gone out (unless they were bad bulbs, or had some kind of problem).
Definitely talk to the dealership, and make sure you don't have to pay a single cent. If they tell you that you'll have to pay, take your car home and fix it yourself; I bet that someone here can help you...

Update:
I took the rear access panel off and unplugged the connection and re-plugged it in. Works like a champ. I don't know but I'm not to concerned. It just might be something to look out for in the future.
