Default Gen 1 Toaster met its doom. Should I get a certified gen 1 or mini cooper S?

Hi guys,

Unfortunately my little gen 1 toaster has met its doom after I hydroplaned and slid into a guard rail on the highway. Luckily no one was injured. Now I'm looking to find a replacement vehicle. Although I'm very much an xB gen 1 enthusiast, the chance of a change is infatuating. Right now I'm battling over whether I should get a certified used gen 1 xB, or, now that I have a bit more steady cash in my pocket than I did years ago when I first purchased it, go on and get a mini cooper S. I've never been a speed demon, but I do delight in handling and a touch of acceleration. I love the comfort of a box and the handling is great (after a front strut bar and a rear sway bar have been applied), but a six speed, turbo charged go-cart sounds very appealing. I test drove one of course, and even though they are small, they are a bit more accommodating that one would think, and I still can't make up my mind. Any recommendations, especially from others who have driven the S or who know people with one?

Thanks for all your help!

i'd get another box. it doesn't have to be "certified". find a good deal on one and look it over real well or if you don't feel comfortable with that take it to a mechanic.

the good thing about the box is it's small and fun but you can still fit plenty in it if you have to. i dont see being able to haul much of anything in the mini.

hate to be a vulture here, but I could use a piece of rubber trim that is on the roof (passenger side) any chance you'd be able to snag it and sell it to me?

For the record, I'd say stick with the xb....although the cooper S' are pretty bad ___. If I didn't need more room for stuff, I'd probably buy a cooper as my next car.

I would have definitely pulled it off for you and given it to you for free, but I collected all of my belongings last week and the remains now belong in the hands of Geico.

There's a couple little thingamajigs I would've liked to swipe out of your car too!

The Cooper S is intense. Too bad they are so expensive and basically only accommodate kids the back seat.

But hey, the box is fun to customize. New rimsssss....

Believe me, there were a lot of things I would have liked to swap out...Tails, strut, rear sway bar, exhaust, etc. They only let me take out the stuff from inside the cabin.

Yeah, since the the aftermarket parts were in the car at the time of appraisal, they told me that I could only take my belongings. However, they did give me a decent price for it.
