Default Rear door speakers ???

Has anyone installed speakers in the rear doors? If so, what are the details ? It looks to me, a 31/2" or 4" speaker is the largest size that will fit. But thats only a guess, I haven't had the door panel off yet.

Just wanted to know what everyone did. What type speaker and size ? What is the most custom way to do it ? Will I need stand-offs ? Etc., Etc. Thanks in advance.

I had an audio shop look at my back doors and tell me what they could do and they actually said they could mount some shallow 8"s. They were going to have to gut the interior of the door and glass the whole thing but they said it could be done. Then they told me how much it would cost! But to answer some of your questions. No, I don't have them in my rear doors. No, I don't know all the details. I would probably want them glassed, if I were going to do it.

I have been wondering the same thing. I would like to put some 5" there for some nice mids.

Has anyone tried to put some on the tailgate? I thought some 6"x9" would be great back there for the beach. Open the gate and they fire down on you as you hide in the shade.

the best way to do anything with the rear doors is to make your door panel outta fiberglass so ytou can mold the speakers in.

i have 6"1/2 mtx components in my rear door. i cut out the little part that dips in on the bottom right under the armrest. there is a hole behind that but it needed to be cut out a little bit for the 6"1/2 driver, but i'm sure a 5"1/4 will fit. after that i mounted the speaker and covered the cut out on the door panel with a piece of pegboard that i wrapped with speaker grill cloth. it looks stock and but sounds so much better. it's kinda worthless without pictures i guess, i will try and post some soon.
