Default Stereo Integrity BM mkIII Shallow Mount 12" Subwoofer Pre-Order Group Buy

Disclaimer - I am not affiliated with Stereo Integrity in any way.

For those looking for a high quality, shallow mount subwoofer for their xB, Stereo Integrity has announced special pre-order group buy pricing for their new BM mkIII 12" shallow mount subwoofer. The pre-order price is $175.00 + shipping. The final retail price will be $269.00 + shipping. This is your chance to get this long anticipated subwoofer at a significant savings.

Here's a link to the BM mkIII product page on the Stereo Integrity web site. This is a shallow mount 12" subwoofer with a 3.5" mounting depth and a 0.5 cu. ft. volume requirement. This makes it very attractive for xB owners as it offers a number of possible installation options (under the front seats, below the rear cargo area floor, in the side wells of the rear cargo area, etc.). I ordered mine yesterday and plan to build a custom enclosure for the rear cargo area that will hold the BM mkII and my Rockford Fosgate P300-1 amp below the cargo floor - without giving up the spare tire. Until now, other solutions required either a amller subwoofer (like the Elemental Design SQ10) or giving up the spare tire.

The details of this special pre-order sale can be found in the DIYmobileaudio forum.

Again, I have no financial interest in this product. I'm just sharing this information with my fellow xB owners who are looking for a quality sub that will fit in a tight space.

I don't know about the newer model of the Stereo Integrity Magnums, but I know the old ones were nothing short of amazing.

I am also a frequent visitor of DIYMA - I thought the sign in name looked familiar. No more alpine amps for you I guess?

I have no first hand experience, but their products are highly regarded in the DIYmobileaudio forums. This particular shallow mount subwoofer has been highly anticipated in those forums for nearly a year.

Now that it's finally a reality, I'm definitely taking advantage of the $175.00 introductory price. I've been waffling back and forth between using a 10" ED SQ10 shallow mount sub, or a 12" JL Audio 12W3V3 and losing my spare tire. The 3.5" mouting depth and 0.5 cu. ft. sealed enclosure volume requirement of the SI BM mkIII will give me a hard hitting, good sounding (according to preliminary reviews) 12" sub that will let me keep my spare tire.

If it's as good as expected, it will give me the best of both my previous options. Guess I'll find out. I'm going to go ahead and build my enclosure so it will be ready as soon as the subwoofer shows up.

This also opens up the possibility of multi driver applications (for those who REALLY like loud bass). I think it would be possible to fit three of them under the cargo area floor without much trouble if you're willing to give up your spare tire. Your could probably fit four of them in there if you get a little creative. In theory, it would be possible to fit 8 of these in a gen2 xB (four below the cargo area floor, one in each of the cargo area side wells and one under each front seat) without giving up any cargo area. That's way beyond my simple needs, but illustrates the advantage of a shallow mount, small enclosure subwoofer.

I'm also curious to know if it will fit in the side well custom enclosure (similar to the LJ Audio Stealthbox) that's being sold in eBay. The depth won't be a problem, but I wonder if the diameter will fit.

I won't be putting subs under my front seats (my son needs the room for his size 15 feet), but they should fit there as well.

Did anyone else take advantage of the pre-order group buy on the Stereo Integrity BM mkIII?

I ordered one and wish I'd ordered two at this price ($175.00). I got an email earlier today that mine has shipped (UPS ground) and should be here next Tuesday 2/23/10.

Mine arrived today. It's very impressive (and heavy) for a shallow mount driver. I can't wait to finish my enclosure and get it installed.

Greg,

Where are you going to mount yours? I plan to flip the spare over and make a circular 0.5 cu. ft. sealed enclosure that will let me keep the spare and not lose any of the cargo area above.

Got mine yesterday also.

Since I have a wood floor in the rear and will be mounting my amps and EQs above the spare, below the floor, I'm going to be building an enclosure into the rear hatch door. Going to be lots of deadening and fiberglass work.

Greg,

My xB will have a wood floor, too - that is, if you consider carpet covered MDF wood.

You are much more ambitious, and talented, than I am. My sub will go in a cylinder shaped sealed MDF enclosure that will be recessed into the flipped spare tire, and the amp below the floor in front of it. Pretty straight forward.

What amp are you planning to use to drive your bm mkIII. I'm plannig on using a Rockford Fosgate P300-1. It was originally purchased to dive an ED SQ10. So, it might be a little small for the bm, but I plan to wire the DVCs in parallel for a 2 ohm load. The birth sheet that came with the P300 listed the RMS power at 417W - not TOO far below the bm's 500W RMS rating. I'm not out to win any SPL competitions. I just want to add some low end to my system. So, hopefully the bm mkIII + P300 will do the job. If not, I'll look for a bigger amp.

Well you have more power going to yours than I do. I've got and Xtant 121M which @ 2ohms does 250 watts. Probably will have to change it out at some point but I'll see how it goes.

As for the wood floor, this is what I have done.
