dealership messed up my hood.
I took my car in on Saturday to Northridge Toyota for my regular maintenance and to get a CEL checked out. I picked it up later that day at 3pm and noticed oil stains on my hood and the left front fender. I wasn't too worried and thought the tech forgot to use gloves while working with my car no biggie! I drove it home and parked it in my drive way. So today I wake up and thought of cleaning the oil stains. I noticed that there were more oil stains on the passenger side of the hood and the fender (which I failed to notice when i picked it up). then my jaw dropped when i saw this:

and in this pic you can see the paint bulge/crack and the oil stains.

i opened the hood and noticed that the prop stick was taken out of its original location and wedged near the passenger side strut area:

I also noticed that the bottom part of the prop stick was oily and not the white "handle" on the top, which lead me to believe that the tech inserted the wrong side of the stick into the hood and punctured it from the bottom.
I am furious. I brought my car from these guys and I have taken my car to them for every single maintenance. I tried to call em today but the service and finance department was closed since its friday. I am going in first thing tomorrow morning and talking to the service manager.
Is there something I should know or be aware of before I go to the dealership tomorrow. This is the first time I have experience something like this and would like more info that could help me.

OMG !!! That is insane. Well if I were you I would take the car in and go talk to the Scion representative there, assuming that there is one. Have him take a look at the damages and give him the story. If the representative is not able to do anything, which i highly doubt, then I would ask to file a complaint. Dealerships never like having complaints filed against them. Doesn't look good on there part. Now assuming that they are able to help you out I would also find who the technician was and speak with him. Ask him/her what they did to cause these damages. I want to say be respectful however when talking with these people but you may get a better reaction out of them if you give them a little of your bad side. These are just my thoughts though so I cant really say on what you should really do but the filing a complaint would seem to me to really get them on the ball to get everything fixed for you. Let us know how it goes.
they and you should always inspect your car before and after you take it in anywhere for this specific reason. it might be a little hard for you to pin it on them being that you took it home for 2 days before taking it back to show them what they did. im sure if their like any other mechanic/dealership, they'll deny it.
Honestly dude I would have automaticaly asked for something as soon as I saw the oil stains on the car..like a car wash or something and give the car a good look over before going.
GL with the ordeal..but I wouldn't hold my breath to much about them doing anything..if anything isn't done about it at least try contacting a scion corp. office and never go back to that dealer again.

Yeah, i should have definitely checked it out at the dealership. I guess I learned my lesson. I'll see what they say and file a complaint and get in contact with corporate. BTW what is the number for coporate. I tried to search the site but not thoroughly.
Seeing oil on the exterior is never a good sign, I'd have brought that to their attention before setting foot in the car. It's a lesson learned and that you get the dealer to cover the damages. I pointed out the nicks/scratches that they put on my wheels and was told to talk to the Service Dept. Manager the following morning.
see this is why i dont take my car any where unless i really have too......cause you never know what there gonna do or whats gonna happen....the first time i went to the dealership i had a CAI installed thats it....i just had my regular maintainced done.....then when i got it back i open my hood when i got home not thinking to check before hand and my engine cover was filty with grease and oil..my oil cap wasnt compltety screwed on..and they worse part of it all was there were grease hand prints on my metal CAI..they had no reason to touch that who knows what they were doing....but any how that was my last expereince going to the dealership do it all my self
went to the dealership yesterday first thing and talked to my service rep. He was very professional and said that he will have to show it to the service manager who would be in late. So I went back after work around 5. The service manager looked at it and couldn't figure out how it happened since the indentation didn't line up perfectly with the hole under the hood. But he did agree to fix it. I just have to take it to the body shop (they don't have one on site and they use another shop) and get it fixed. will probably go in on friday.
The dealer that did my SC install and +$10k in warranty repairs trashed my front lip and dinged the top of my fenders. They refused to do anything about it because I couldn't prove it wasn't like that before I brought it in.
yea i stopped going to my dealer after they put a good sized chip in my door and scratched my hood. It really sucks because they are a good dealer for service it just they have some stupid people there. The scratch on the hood came from them washing it and who ever dried it probably had a watch on. I didnt see it until the next day so i didnt even try to get it fixed.
i just dont understand dealerships any more........not to get off topic but my buddy brought his 08 tc with i/H.E in for a oil change and tire rotation and they bring the car in the shop and there sitting there reving the crap out of it and hes in the office waiting he had to go and say something and all they said was im sorry ..it sounds nice....
Glad to hear they are taking care of it. Just use this as a lesson to always look over your car after it is service..especially if you notice something right away..like the oil stains you saw before you took the car home.
