easy way to make Panoramic shots...

You can use whatever lens you have available that best suits the purpose. Typically wider-angle lenses will make your life easier for it, so you need less shots to stitch together. For that one I just used my kit lens all the way out at 18mm. That one consists of 5 shots stitched together. You can use Photoshop (File -> Automate -> Photomerge) or a free application called "Autostitch"

make sure you set the exposure and white balance to manual so you don't have a different exposure from shot to shot. That's a surefire way to make it look terrible!




something i would like help on is an easy way to make a pic black and white and then bring back one objects colors or just one color in the picture.
(i know you can lasso and bring back the color but if i want a bBW pick with reds is there a way to show all the red in the pic without lassoing all the red objects?)

a photography tip i would like to see is how to take a black and white pic. IMO taking a pic in black and white or simply making it BW after the fact does not make it a black and white pic. subject matter and angles have a lot to do with all the amazing BW pics ive seen.

so please, post your tips and suggestions along with links to sites that may already cover this in a straight forward manner.

but yeah, thats kinda the point of this thread, most people who by baller camera dont know how to use them or the first thing about editing.... this thread should end up as a how to for dummies, i didnt know about the ease of panoramic shots either until i saw that post.

I concur.... I wasn't in the market for a DSLR till I saw one on clearance at my job... I couldn't let it pass. It's funny because I graduated high school 15 years ago and I find myself writing down notes on Photoshop and on my camera

It's tough to get right. Have to get a good set of exposures, and then the PP'ing takes a lot of careful touches.

Also, for post processing, I like to use PhotoMatix instead of photoshop. It's a smaller app built just for HDR that makes it simpler to use and get good results:

Yup, well I was...now I downloaded LR3. I'm still trying to figure it out but I think I'm coming around with it. I recently did my first selective color of a sunflower that I think came out pretty good.

The process I used (not sure if it's the correct way of doing it but worked for me) was in the Develop module, click on the Adjustment Brush icon, decrease the Saturation all the way and brush the colors you wish to eliminate while carefully staying away from the colors you want to stand out.
