Default Is there enough room for a sub underneath the front seats?

obviously would need a very shallow basket..

I wouldn't mind even adding an 8".. I just want some more bass, round out the soundstage a bit. I was thinking the sub under the drivers seat, amp under the passenger seat. Has anyone done anything like this?

another question, does the factory stereo on the 2005 xa have rca outputs and a remote wire?

thanks.

I've seen as big as a 12" under the front seats of an xB. I'm sure you could do a 10" easily if you know what you are doing.

RCA outs on the 05... no. There are signal to line converters you can get which will allow you to convert over to RCA though. You can do a remote wire from any ACC lead, it doesn't have to be from the head unit. However, I would make sure to relay the lead with a delayed relay to avoid the bump.

that sux. Its a Pioneer, and doesnt even have audio outs? WTF.

Okay, in that case, I might as well upgrade my headunit. Signal to line coverters suck the life of sound quality.

I want a dvd/gps unit, yeaaahhh.

Is the stock radio 2-din?

Yeah.. its a.. "Pioneer" of the absolutely worst quality.. I had a amp mounted under my passenger seat and it worked really well.. And if you got a shallow mount sub, you should have any issues with a sub under the front seats.. I always want to do it, but never got around to working out the logistics.. Always thought some bum bass would give music a good feel.. ha ha ha..

I have this box: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=464

...but the sub itself sucks; I blew it out within 6 months with an amp that e-design said should have been ok. I replaced the driver with an inexpensive dual-coil 10" from newegg.com (that they no longer sell, of course). It doesn't sound as nice, but it tolerates my amp better.

So, yeah, that box is great if you can find a half-decent sub with a mounting depth of less than 4".

A small 8" sounds great to me.
Depends on how much you want people outside the car to hear the bass.

will that box work for an xA?

im thinking i could just have a local shop build me a box for less and get a better sub from the get go.

I've just started down the road of custom audio. I picked up a new Pioneer AVIC-X920BT today, and will be installing it this weekend. I keep my XB full of of competition R/C heli gear most of the time, and don't really have room for a sub. When picked up the new unit, I asked about future speaker swaps, amps, sub, etc. They showed me this slick little box. It's a bit pricey, and you could build it yourself if you had the skills, but check it out.

Pretty elegant, IMO. I'll probably end up putting one in mine if I end up going farther down the audio upgrade path, and stick an amp underneath the driver seat.

I got the Pioneer Premium H/U off the 08 and asked Dethbox here on SL fab up an underseat sub box using the Bazooka Scion TC amp wiring and sub. He did an awesome job and the amp was attached to the box on the side. The sound is EXACTLY what I was looking for which is nice added bass you can feel thru the front seats. If your looking for womething louder you need something bigger, but for me it all came out to 200 bucks and install was basically plug and play

A single 8" sub with the right specs can sound amazing. I've got two 8 dub 7s and people ask me if I have 12s. I thought about rebuilding my setup with 8" L7s but I like the SQ of the JLs.
