There gonna move the rav4 to the next size suv and that one to the next and so on. Then there gonna take the chasiss for the rav4's and use it for a car for the new scion mystery car. Sounds kinda weird i know, cuz of the xB but who knows what kind of design they might have for it. Its scion you know its gonna be sweet. This aint BS, got this info from a dealership, same guys that were telling me a year ago whats happening to the xA and the xB.             THATS RIGHT GUYS BOW TO ME

Well, we do know that the Rav4 is going to be a Rav5 next release. Maybe this has some merit. a mini SUV. Just what all the current scion owners didn't want :) Woo hoo.

or maybe an all wheel drive car . in my opinion the rav4 isn't much of a truck , but it's platform might make one hell of a car . Maybe an impreza fighter. :ponder:

that actually wouldnt be a bad idea, not that i think about it. Can u picture having a subaru with that scion price and sweet design. That would be cool. That actually makes sense if u think about it. why would they want another xB looking car. Screw the suv, how about an all wheel drive, sports sedan, or another coupe. The machine would be a beast. Wow im likeing the sound of this guys, maybe i'll wait on the tC to see what kind of car this is gonna be.

Sounds a little bit legit, although I wouldn’t base all my hoped and dreams on what some guy at a dealer said. The dealer is normally the last to find out this sort of stuff. I have seen pics of the next gen Rav4 and it looks about the size of a BMW X3, so that would open up a spot for a small SUV in the lineup. I hope we can see some pics some time. I would put my money on it being some sort of SUV or crossover veh. 4 door sedan…..NO WAY.

03-04-2005, 07:59 PM
yeah man im really thinking its true, totally makes sense. I think think its gonna be released this summer. with the new tC. Thats what happened last year, the new tC came out and the new year xA and xB was out. I dunno guys, getting pretty confident about this stuff. Making total sense. I think were gonna be seeing this car soon, in the next few months. WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!

ShadyEye16
03-04-2005, 08:17 PM
um, hate to break it to you guys, but the Rav4 is built on the same platform as the Corolla and uses the same engine as both the Camry and ready for this...the tC. The Avensis platform that the tC is built on is about the same size as the Corolla's (if anything, a little bit bigger). The only differance is that the Rav4 has an SUV suspension and wheels/tires. If this is even true, I wouldn't get too excited just yet, its still just a bunch of talk :blah:

 sorry man, but the truth is the truth. It seems that a lot of salemen are very confused when it comes to Scion and its future, I don't know where they get their info from, but wherever it is, it's not from Scion.

uberscionofglendale
03-06-2005, 05:31 PM
yeah....i wouldn't believe what a salesman said either....unless he said he doesn't know:P usually the dealerships aren't the first to know.

03-06-2005, 06:33 PM
eeh, they were right the time they told me about the when they were getting rid of the xA and xB. So im thinking its true. I dunno guys i think i totally believe this. Totally makes sense if u think about it. Maybe there gonna make an suv'ish scion. Like look at the xA and look at the echo. same damn car. Just alil more stylish. Maybe they'll do the same thing w/ the rav4. Make it alil more stylish. Stop doubting. U dont know.

ShadyEye16

I wasn't saying that it for sure won't be an SUV-type car, I'm just saying that since the same modified platform is used for the Corolla and the Matrix, there is no reason to assume that the car will be an SUV.

The truth is, nobody outside of Scion HQ's knows what the next car will be, we can all speculate, but we won't know until Scion wants us to. If they released the details of the next Scion, and its better than anything we have now, then there are some people who would just wait for the new model. The whole car business is based on selling cars now! now! now! so anything that would make someone wait to buy a car is bad for business. Take the new Toyota Avalon for example, pics of that car weren't on the Toyota.com website until a few days before we got our first ones on the lot; Toyota did this so that people would keep buying the old ones instead of saying "Wow, that new one is nice, we'll just wait."

Even the Dealer Reps that come talk to dealerships don't know about new products until Scion HQ wants them to, sure they know about stuff earlier than dealers, but not by as much of a margin as you might think. The release of info is very well controlled by Toyota, you'll notice that it is much more rare to see spy shots of a Toyota than almost any other brand because Toyota is very guarded about the info they allow to be released to the public.

Just to cause some trouble, I heard the next Scion is actually going to be a motorcycle! :silly:

daveman235
03-07-2005, 10:32 PM
makes sense, man. lol motorcycle, wouldnt that be funny

dgHotLava
03-07-2005, 10:42 PM
there are a few people outside of HQ...

they have been dropping strong hints here and there...anyone smart enough that heard the proper info (not the dealer/salesman...feeding you crap...) can put it together...

remember all those focus groups???

well, truth to be told - Rav4 uses "corolla" platform, however it is far away from Corolla. It actually has Celica suspension setup and full time awd, and it also has different wheelbase. This is why Rav4 has always been the sportiest little SUV on the market, even today.

Avensis and tC use different platform (Avensis platform), which also uses Celica suspension.

If I had to guess, I would say that next Scion would be similar to Corolla Verso - sportish, sleek small minivan that seats 7. It would be perfect addition to Scion lineup.
It is built up from Matrix (longer and more upscale).

OKAY THAT ROX IF THIS IS TRUE! i still own my 97 RAV4L i been racing it for years now - msotly autocross. i can clear up a few things that were said. the car was built on CELICA ST205 SUSPENSION (the AWD is JUST LIKE A CELICA GTFOUR the WRC edition).

the chasis was not built on a corolla - but a CAMRY. in fact the rav4 and camry have had the same engine for a while now! firs teh 3sfe and then teh 2azfe.

b/c the rav4 uses a sports car suspension adn the chasis of a small sedan - the rav4 was never intended to be an SUV - but sales were better as an SUV. in fact on my insurance it states that my rav4 was a WAGON. lol

if what they say is true - if they are building the new scion on a rav4 chasis - THAT WILL RULE - and it sill suck b/c now im gonan want one! i love my rav4. i didnt trade it in for my xb - i kept it. ill never get rid of it.

i got a body kit on it - full suspension upgrade, racing seats, carbon fiber hood - im tellin ya rav4s are badass!

ok, Guys I just got back from a Scion round Table meeting with our regional reps. There are no plans for a sedan at all, all hype. The Xa will be redesigned and the Xb in a few years. As of right now Scion plans a life of three years on the XA and Xb and five years on the TC. They have discussed upping the engine in both the XB and XA.

What are they considering? The 1.8 out of the Corolla?

No, they are putting the RAV4/Camry/tC I4 in it. I got the info from Car and Driver report of the NYC Auto Show. That means a 2.4L 160hp box for you.

Easy on the salesmen now.....

Word is here that Scion most likely is not going to be releasing a four-door tC. It would crowd into the Corolla and Corolla XRS territory. I've only gotten limited information from my sources, and those sources say xB and xA are the first to get re-designed.

I'm not sure were you get your information from, but i work on toyotas and scions every day, the rav4 used to be based off the camry for the first generation with nothing about it being suv but the all wheel drive, tires and ground clearence. the second generation still shares alot with camry, but not as much as the first(as a matter o fact , the solara, avalon, highlander and sienna vans all started out as modified camry platforms). The tc actually shares its front suspension and cradle with the corrolla, and avensis, but the rear suspension is a new design based off the celica. I have them up on racks everyday, and the tc actually looks alot like the corolla underneath the engine. I wouldn't put any cross platform melding past toyota for the release of the new scion, but my best guess is its either gonna be something of a stretched and restyled tc, or a camry or corolla with new exterior panel and flashy interior. But that last part is just an opinion. And i'm positive it will be out by november.

In a "small world" sort of coincidence, I wrote an article for my "blog", Carbinated.com, that discusses the different types of automotive websites, and I mentioned and linked to your excellent site in the next-to-last paragraph in this article I wrote:
http://www.carbinated.com/?cat=9

Little did I imagine there would be so much discussion here on a Scion sedan. A week ago, WITHOUT having seen this site or this thread, I wrote this other article:
http://www.carbinated.com/?p=5

Hope you like my "recipe", even though I admit that the chances of it being built that way are slim-to-none.

BTW, fantastic photoshop alteration on the Holden Torana concept. It would be cool if a Scion sedan looked like that.

:P Look guys, this is all old news. Check the threads, this has been stated several other times. Its true that the rav 4 uses the same engine as us tCers but the thing that seperates the Rav 4 from the Corola and the tC is the Suspension and the overall design.

It will be interesting to see what is done with this. Knowing the Scion guys, this will be a kick ___ design and a killer price. Scion corp, I love you! P.S. It takes about a year and a half to design a car usually more. Some cars like the tC can and were designed in less but usually 18 months.

farberio

A year and a half to develop a car? Umm...what planet are you on? Try 3 years.

p.s. 18 months IS a year and a half
