View Full Version : Mud Flaps/Dirty Rear End
time2design 03-01-2005, 03:42 PM Does anyone own mudflaps on their xA and if so, are you finding your rear end to be dirty still?
I am considering getting them. Anything to keep the back clean would be helpful, it gets SO dirty SO easily. Very annoying.
zdawg913 03-01-2005, 04:14 PM amen to that - it does get too dirty.. i dont have any mudflaps either
matt_a 03-01-2005, 04:33 PM I was wondering the same thing. I had no intention of paying $108 for a simple set of mud guards, but now I'm kinda wishing I had. One short drive in the rain is enough to make the whole back end filthy. :tap: I wonder how much they really help. :ponder:
PandaIst 03-01-2005, 05:07 PM ahhh...I have the same problem too. And I have a polar white xA so it shows alot. But I ain't dishing out $108 for them..that's too much.

If I find a really good price, I'll post it here.
andrewjc 03-01-2005, 05:30 PM The best price I found was $58 for the back. Still a huge rip off.
Blue_Estel 03-01-2005, 07:01 PM I bought the rear mudflaps with my $50 gift card. I put them on myself using the instruction that come with them and it took 5 minutes per side. It took me longer to take my tires off than it did to do the install...
They HELP but do not stop your back end from getting dirty. It has been a definite improvement but you can't expect these 2 little pieces of plastic to keep that whole rear end spotless...
Bottom line-They do thier job. I'm satisfied with them, although I think they're overpriced.

~chrisThat's good to know...thanks Chris. Let me ask you this. Do you have to take the wheels off, or is it just to fit the drill and screwdriver in there? The reason I ask, is because I have a right-angle drill that only needs about 3".
mikochu 03-01-2005, 08:16 PM I'm just gonna end up buying the C-One mudflaps...

staypuft 03-01-2005, 10:30 PM Whoa those are cool and Red too.. hmm /ponder.. what is the price on those? Might be worth picking up to see what they look like.

No, you don't have to take your wheels off. The instructions called for a right-angle drill, like you have, but I didn't have one so instead of paying $80 for one, I just took my wheels off and used a regular drill & screwedriver.

Richard 03-02-2005, 12:55 PM Mudflaps stink.
matt_a 03-02-2005, 01:15 PM Mudflaps stink. :no:I don't plan on smelling them. :eyebrow:
Seriously though, why would you say that? The ones for the xA are very small and don't look bad at all. If they cut down on the ammount of rear spray, what's wrong with that?
Blue_Estel 03-02-2005, 02:29 PM Matt,
One thing I've learned is to ignore those that just throw statements out there without explaining thier reasons.
I agree with you. The xA mudflaps are small and look very nice. Especially since there are front mudflaps but no rear ones. Without them it looks like 1/2 an install.
They look nice and cut down on the tire spray... besides the price, what negatives are there? none.

Where did you find them for $58 at?
Blue_Estel 03-03-2005, 05:00 PM Mine were $78 at the dealer then I got $50 off with the gift card so they cost me $28 in the end.

FrankenScion 03-03-2005, 07:37 PM I'm working with one of my sponsors to get some diamond plat mudflaps mad. If I could get a template or some exact measurements it would speed it up considerably. I would do it myself, but I have 2 broke limbs at the moment.
JDM_Junkyard 03-04-2005, 05:14 PM I have a set on my xa, and I want to sell them since I'm getting a kit. Anybody interested in getting all 4 for $80? let me know. Thanks.
Ron
FrankenScion 03-04-2005, 06:52 PM What are they made of? pics?

Stinks as in suck. Anyway I had mudflaps (OEM) on my '00 Toy. Corolla. I didn't like them, especially in winter with snow and slush getting built up under them when I'd be driving. Fortunately I never had any accidents, I felt after I took them off, winter driving was definitely better.
To conclude, they're not my thing. If you or anyone like them, that's all that matters.
mfbenson 03-05-2005, 02:48 PM I know this is an xA thread, but on the tC I bought mine without the mudguards and drove it that way for about a month and then bought the mudguards. It seems to prevent about 75% of the mud and dirt, which is better than I was expecting. I agree they're overpriced, but at least they work pretty well so its not like a total rip-off or something...
