I have a set of 18 x 7.5 +42mm wheels with 225/40/18r nittos. I recently cracked a wheel and the replacement is now discontinued. Im looking at a new set of wheels but they are 18 x 8 +40mm. It almost already rubs dropped on koni blues and tein s techs. My question is how much different will the clearance fitment be, and will the half of an inch wheel difference be ok for my tires? Yes, i realize i am a total noob in the tires and wheels section lol.

just run smaller tires.
