Passenger Door Power lock broken
Hi,
My 2005 xB:
One of my passenger door power lock isn't going up and down normally....more like it tries to move and fails part-way in either direction.
All the other locks operate normally at full strength.
Anybody have a source for a door lock mechanism/plunger solenoid...or whatever they call it.... ??
Dave

Take lock mechanism out of door
Remove power lock motor
Replace in door
???????????????
Manually operate lock on that door
Profit!
If that just doesnt float your boat, which door is it? I might still have mine laying around...

I have that issue when people try to leave the car as the car attempts to unlock then it seems to jam all the doors in my car. What I do to fix this issue is push the lock button down 5 times and then hit the unlock button and should pop up the whole way.

I looked allover OP, and I do not have the one that you need... but for some odd reason I still have both of my fronts, just not the rears
You are in fact a tard... if you take off the two screws holding the door panel in place, disconnect the two rods from the door lock itself going to the door handles inside and out, remove the wiring harness, one 10mm bolt on the window track, and 3 T-30 torqs screws on the door jam and unscrew the plastic lock, the lock mechanism is in your hands
Let's face it, we've moved from a mechanical world to an electronic world, and people just don't have the basic experience with mechanical things any more. Most mechanical devices are in sealed boxes that are never repaired, just replaced.
Add in the facts that many things are absolutely not built to be openable or repairable at all, and that many of the younger generations have learned their "physics" from video games and CGI movies and, well, let's just say that a lot of folks really shouldn't work on their own cars...

Just wanted to post my fix here. 2005 Scion xB. Rear drivers side power door lock stopped working, replacement door lock actuator would be close to $200, so I found a universal actuator on eBay for $10. Removed door trim, pulled back plastic vapor barrier, drilled two holes and installed. Here are photos of the installation in case anyone is looking for these like I was.
Edit: I also had to trim the foam a bit on the door trim so it would not hit this new actuator. This install does not require the removal of the old actuator. It won't hurt to leave it there, do not remove it.

Good job! A friend of mine, Slothead on ClubxB, bought a universal actuator like you did. When she got the door apart, the replacement actuator looked so different from the OEM one, we couldn't figure how to hook it up. She buttoned it back up & got another OEM actuator. You made the universal one fit. Kudos!
I had the one in my front left door go out. I think the replacement actuator was about $70 from an on-line supplier. Took about 45 minutes to install, only tool required was a stubby Phillips screwdriver.

A step by step on this would be great. I attempted to do this a year ago and once I saw the plastic bag that keeps it sealed, stopped right there.
Also, be careful with the front door ones, taking off the panel there is a screw that is made of garbage and breaks off unless you take it out carefully. My driver's side door is still dead and the rear drivers side passenger door is on its way out.
