Default Goodbye to the xB :( Hello to the new car.

So I recently had to say goodbye to my baby, unfortunately divorce and the financial situation that it left me with made it so I could no longer afford it (a few other details go along with that, but I won't go into it, it's a lot). I do however have a new car, and I picked it up suuuuuuper cheap, now to get all the bugs worked out of it and start making plans.

It is sad to see it go, I dumped a ton of time and money into it, and I want to thank anyone who has helped me with it, be it just advice on the forums or a helping hand, I appreciate all of it.

oh, the E39, what engine does it have? Good luck with that. I don't see how you can't afford a first gen xB, but can somehow afford a used E39. Sorry that the divorce is being really that hard on you. but BMW's are not a cost effective car to own ever, period. I'm getting rid of my 2007 335i because I've determined that BMW really builds the ultimate leasing machine. Looking at how my 2007 BMW held up against my 2005 Scion, I decided to get another Scion.

BTW, if you want to confirm some information about your new BMW, I have a website that will give you the complete build sheet for your car. All you do is put in the last 7 digits of your VIN and answer the little captcha math question and it'll even tell you what style wheels it left the factory with!

Because the xB had 8K left on it, was supposed to be a 4 year loan and I'm on year 5? The loan was sold off due to the bank holding the loan selling all of their car loans to a debt collection company, worst people I have EVER worked with. I've never been late or missed a payment and had been treated like a criminal. My credit at this point is not good enough to refinance, the ex let her car get repossessed and my name was on that loan as well, I couldn't really afford the one car loan let alone another one on top of that. Plus being left with every bill and financial burden has been absolute hell. The BMW has no payments, paid only 2K for it, bad decision, possibly, but I do really like the car, its fun, and for the time being makes me happy.

Anyways, the BMW has the V8 pre vanos, the two issues it does have right now are being covered by the warranty at no cost to me, when I'm ready again, I would love to have another xB, but I can't do payments right now.

Okay, I thought the xB would be paid for, I didn't realize you only just purchased it. I'm just looking at the running costs (gas/tires/brakes/maitenance/insurance) for an xB vs a 540i and was like how on earth could that be cost effective.

Anyway, good luck, often times the cheapest BMW's are the most expensive ones. If their covered by a warranty, fabulous!

Honestly it SHOULD have been paid for, I got no real explanation from the loan/debt company on what was going on, I'm not sure if they are just rude or really plain stupid. If it was paid for I'd keep it, no biggie. My insurance actually went down by 20 a month, I figured it would be a little higher, but I was surprised. The gas isn't a huge deal, I don't drive very far, and to get to work I generally take the bus, so for all intents and purposes it's kind of a toy and serves as transportation when I do need to get somewhere.

And I really really do miss the xB, it was hard to watch it drive away, all the work and all the things I put into it, the time, money, and injury, no joke, was gone. It luckily went to a good home to someone I know, and know will take good care of it.

All things considered - that's not a bad swap! Well played.

Truth.
xB is one of the lowest cost vehicles, even with payments averaged in.

Prius, Fit, xB, etc.

Good luck with the BMW, maybe you got a lucky one, who knows.
