Probably a really dumb question but..... Has any one replaced the front speakers with just 6.5 coaxial and leaving the tweets in and operating? would the resistor take away the highs from the tweeter in the coaxial?
You may laugh at the absurdity of the query it is okay I have tough skin.

Not dumb bud, you are right on. If you are working with what you have on hand, go for it. If you don't like the result bypass the resistor or buy or trade for what you want. Do not know how hard it would be though.

I tried this when I first installed my coaxial's, they will both run. The stock tweeters will not bypass them.

From what I understand the wires go to the 4way plug in the tweet and then down to the woofer so I don't know yet what I would have to do to bypass. I have some new BA I am going to or was going to put in the back and then later replace the componants. But I thought maybe i would get some opinions from some one who had replaced the fronts and kept the tweets. I Know that the rears are blocked by the seats but I can't imagine replacing the factory rears would do nothing. I replaced my HU with a Kenwood so there is quite a big difference already. I have some other stuff to do so I will check back and see what else pops up. Thanks Blackedout for the post.

You don't replace front speakers.

Front speakers replace you.

If you use the wires coming from the tweeter to the woofer, you'll get full range response on your coaxials. The stock woofers are playing full range, but since they are terrible at playing highs, you mainly hear highs from the stock tweeter. In crossovers, capacitors are high pass (the bass is blocked, the highs pass through), inductors (coils) are low pass (the bass is passed, the highs are blocked). Aftermarket components speakers use both. This makes for clearer sound as each driver does what it's best at.

You may get some funny highs however. Without knowing how the tweeters in the coaxials are, you make get some interference between stock tweet and coax tweet. Some highs softer, other highs louder (comb filtering). I'd disconnect the stocks.
