View Full Version : Descendant Exhaust?!
Enzie 02-01-2011, 02:40 AM So i was pretty much going to buy the TRD exhaust because i can get the TRD exaust "at cost" because my mom works with toyota and the Descendant seemed sketchy to me, but then my dad said i should just get new wheels first, so exhaust was out of my mind for a few days.
But now i read these two great reviews of the Descendant exhaust:
http://www.scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=196433
and the write-ups convinced me and my dad that i should go for this exhaust instead.
But i have a question, does it just go on using factory stuff like the TRD exhaust? or does it require cutting and welding and all that stuff?
Also, does anyone have any hook-ups on getting it cheaper? because i have the money to buy the exhaust, but saving some money would be great so i can move on to a CAI when they start rolling out :D
EDIT: and where can i find this online? I don't see it on the descendant website D:

Papa_Bear 02-01-2011, 05:47 AM PMd you :)
Matariel 02-01-2011, 04:01 PM If you want to save some money, I think the TRD exhaust at cost would be a better deal for you. The Descendant sounds great, but the TRD isn't bad at all either. In terms of power I think they add similar numbers (someone quoted +6-7hp). Sound is where the difference lies.
One thing I' unsure about, as I'm somewhat of a noob with turbo mods, is that the Descendant exhaust was made to work with their turbo tC (DESCENDANT-Racing 3" Stainless Steel- Turbo Exhaust).. Does that change anything on a N/A?
draxcaliber 02-01-2011, 04:05 PM if you aren't turbo'd, you don't need 3 inch exhaust, it will just make your car very loud, and gain minimal hp.

The TRD exhaust is a wicked nice piece, so I hope my review didn't seem like I didn't pick the TRD because its junk...cause its not. Definitely check it out at your local dealer and compare to this review.
The Descendant exhaust is 2.5" for the tC2. Its available in both 2.5" and 3" for the tC1.
Singleturbo 02-01-2011, 06:56 PM Here is a video one of the customer posted up online earlier. It does sound mighty mean.

Enzie 02-02-2011, 12:32 AM I ordered the Descendant exhaust today and hopefully it should ship sometime today, or tomorrow :D!
Thanks to Rob and Mike from Descendant, and Papa_Bear for some good info O:
snjTC 03-31-2011, 10:55 PM hey how would i go about aligning the exhaust. its too far to the right and rattles against the bumper. anyone?
Enzie 03-31-2011, 10:59 PM I think that some of the hangars are fatter than the others, so that there is more tension on some parts than others.
When you installed it, did you make sure the hangers went to the same spots?
And you could also try switching the hangars to different spots towards the back to see if it alligns properly. Mine sits slightly to the right, but its small and you have to actually look to notice it. But if its touching, theres definately something wrong there
snjTC 03-31-2011, 11:05 PM i dont know... i didnt install it.. i had a shop do it. they tried to say it was from the company like that and all they did was bolt it on. i was just wanted to know what could have went wrong.
Enzie 03-31-2011, 11:09 PM I'd say bring it back and ask them about the hangars. Because my dad and I mixed them up when we put it on and had to fix them for it not to touch. And if that doesn't work, I guess you'd have to give descendant a call and maybe they can tell you what's wrong.
snjTC 03-31-2011, 11:17 PM well ill be taking it back to the shop tomorrow. hopefully they can fix it. because that rattling noise well im sitting at lights is very annoying. but thanks for your help.
Enzie 03-31-2011, 11:23 PM Np, I had that problem before. What I suggest doing is maybe putting double sided tape between where it touches so it doesn't scratch/melt the underside of the bumper. But since your going tomorrow you should be fine, cause the tape kinda melts and leaves a mess that only googone fixes xD...
jarvasdb1 03-27-2012, 04:31 PM Okay, two things. Can someone post a pic of the factory exhaust system? And 2, are there 2 cats on the car just like the first gen Tc? One cat on header and the other right after the S-pipe?
talt2008 03-27-2012, 04:39 PM to answer your 1st question i dont want to pull it out of the attic, but to answer your 2nd question, yes you are correct about the cats
jarvasdb1 03-27-2012, 05:33 PM Ha hah I know what you mean. Thank you. On my '09 I had the factory header but aftermarket S-pipe, mid pipe, and Magnaflow exhaust. I loved that setup. Maybe I'll just have a midpipe and magnaflow welded on. I saw somewhere on this site someone just added a weapon-R header and the system sounded really aggressive. So Descendant was only sought after because it was one of the first on the market?
biglilsteve 03-27-2012, 06:12 PM Yes, it was the first on the market, but also most still consider it to be the best quality exhaust. From a build and sound perspective. It's exhaust note is highly refined compared to the other cat-backs out there.
jarvasdb1 03-28-2012, 12:12 AM I saw people drooling over the Tsudo exhaust and regretted purchasing the Descendant. ??? I don't get it. To each their own I guess. Thanks for replying.
