so i got this hu a couple months ago and im finally getting around to installing it in the next few days

im gonna use the 12v relay to bypass

also going to install the metra axxess aswc universal steering wheel control interface.

anyone install this in their d or something similar? i think i have a pretty good idea on how this stuff will work just hoping i didnt bite off more than i can chew.

I've installed a p4100dvd in my car. I was able to use a switch to bypass mine vs a relay

if you need any help with the install or with the wiring on the relay i could probably help you.

as for the steering wheel controls... i opted for a different steering wheel vs making the controls on the original work, haha

you mean on the back of the radio?

theres 3 harnesses, 2 small ones and a big one, (09 model, not sure on the USB models) the big one is gonna have the power/accesory/speakers etc, one is for steering wheel controls, and one is for the ipod/aux

with a plug and play harness should just be a matter of terminating the radio harness to the plug and play harness, color matching the wires, (or get a wire color diagram for a helper), then just plug the pnp harness to the oem harness

you can install it without the dash kit if its a double din, becaues the dash kit for the double din is just two small plastic plates , you'll just have 2 small holes until the dash kit gets in. and its not like its hard to get to the radio so taking the radio back out to put the 2 plates on isnt that big of a deal

yeah ill prob get that one.. why did you get a wire harness? i got the axxess harness from amazon http://www.amazon.com/Metra-ASWC-Uni...&s=electronics
its the cheapest i could find from a legit place. i was originally gonna get the pac but then i read it wasnt that great and plus the axxess auto detects the hu and vehicle.
