My 2011 tC automatic makes a slight "clunk" on the 2-1 downshift
between 15 & 18 mph. Has anyone experienced this?

 

Oh yeah, she is a clunky sounding tranny. Mine makes the clunk occasionally from neutral to first, and 1st to second. I don't recommend downshifting from 2nd to 1st, unless it is necessary. 2nd gear will pull at almost any rpm, except up steep hills.

 

Same here. It's normal ;) but yes, don't do 2-1. You shouldn't be in 1 anyway if the car is already in motion.

 

No clunks here from 2-1...but it is definitely a hard downshift...one that is very rarely necessary. If you've ever noticed, the car doesn't make that downshift on its own until the car is nearly back to a standstill.

My 2010 XB automatic has a clunk around 15-17MPH when slowing down, especially if it is warm out and the engine/tranny is warmed up. Toyota/Scion says this is normal, but it is pretty bad sometimes, and has almost caused some accidents at times. It makes the car not fun to drive. Does the 2011 tC have the same auto tranny?
