Alright,
So in January I bought a 5000k HID slim-ballast hid kit from Meng along with a relay harness. Everything was hooked up and worked perfect. I loved them.

A week or so ago they just didn't turn on so I had to disconnect them and put my stock bulbs back in.

I checked all the wires and what-not and it looks as if the 20A fuse on the relay harness melted. It didn't blow... just straight up melted. heh. Kinda interesting.

I don't know exactly how it all works and what-not but I can't find anything that would say why it would do that. I'll try to get a picture of the sexy fuse up tomorrow.
Any ideas what that's all about?

Lots of current, cheap fuse. I'm on my 2nd one and the way it's been acting lately it's about time to replace it again. I have a 30A on mine though.

It shouldn't be like that though. Has to be a way to fix it instead of continuing to buy more.
I just don't want to get out of work and find my car ablaze ;p

The initial current spike from the ignitors is probably what's doing it. Replacing it once a year doesn't seem like too much of a hassle/expense. And the purpose of a fuse is to blow, breaking the electrical circuit when the current is too high, so I wouldn't worry about your car catching on fire.

I have two HID sets in my car. Fogs and low beams. I use no fuses and everything is great. What fuses is everyone talking about??

theres a fuse in the relay that connects to the battery which is draws the power from instead of the stock electrical system, safer that way,its optional..to prevent fire and damage if anything happens

What did you get from theretrofitsource.com for the 2011 tc in terms of HIDs?

I think they only have 1 amp H11 compatible kit if I remember correctly. Don't think philips makes H11 bulbs

UPDATE
Tested the HIDs without the relay harness and they work perfectly. So it is just the harness.
The people at Meng are going to refund me a new harness soon so the HIDs will be back in action shortly. Woo!

ddmtuning makes an awesome kit. Everyone in our Rochester chapter of the Scikotics have them.
