So my mom's husband has epilepsy and flipped her mazda 3 with her in it when he had a seizure so she needs to get a new car.

She's trying to stay around 17-20k for a car but would consider going a little bit over. She puts 20-25k on her car yearly as she travels a little for her job.

She's looking at Toyota Corolla S or Hyundai Elantra. Both auto. I told her to consider Mitsubishi Lancer. She doesn't want another mazda. Which car do you think she should buy or are there any others you would recommend?

Has she considered the new Ford Focus or Fiesta? Pretty decent little cars IMO

I believe both are within her price range..the fiesta is probably lower but you can get a pretty loaded one for $20k

This or the Ford, the Corolla is becoming a joke since Toyota is to damn cheap to actually upgrade the car (4 speed auto).

she went with a Hyundai Elantra. I think she'll regret it later.

^^^ +1 awesome car and in my opinion Hyundai will be the number one selling car maker within the next five years. Hyundai is making some great strides in the auto world right now.

She talked about the sportiness of her Mazda 3. The road noise, suspension, handling, acceleration, etc. She should have picked up another one or just gotten a used throwaway car because she'll end up retiring in a couple years and this thing will be loaded with miles. I'm curious to see how hyaundai holds up though.

Yep both Kia and Hyundai have been making incredible improvements in just the past five years....Toyota and Honda should take note of this.
