Default Parking lights

I installed some LEDs for my parking lights a few days ago, but I am not to happy with them. The LEDS are hella bright when I was checking to see if they were working ( they were connected, but I had the bulbs were sitting outside of the actual housing). Once I put them into the housing, they seemed to have dimmed quite a bit.
Anyone know what is going on? They are the matrix LEDs from autolumination, the ones at the very top.

Supposedly LED's w/plastic bases can melt under the heat of the headlights. Do yours have plastic bases?

yup, but they seem fine. But I haven't checked.
I put them in the OEM housing. Is there a way to adjust them to get better lighting out of the parking lights?
