Default Altezza vs OEM Tail Light Bulb conversion??

Hey guys I've been on this forum for a yr or so but haven't actually made a thread yet. So when I bought my 05 xB it came stock with the Altezza tail lights, I recently purchased some OEM tail lights took them apart and sprayed some red tint translucent paint on the inside of the lens and left the bottom clear for the reverse light. I took one of the tail lights out and started installing the new OEM one I just finished spraying and the bulbs don't fit they're simply TOO large. I've spent at least an hr on google and a couple other forums trying to search if there was some type of bulb conversion and only found one site that said you might have to convert with wiring bulb harness to make the Altezzas fit. So my question is do you think I should just go to a junk yard and get the rear tail light wiring harness or is there an easier and cheaper solution?

Any and every input is appreciated thx.

Do you have any pictures of the tail lights you're referring to?

My bad I thought they were altezzas or euros, I typed both of those in google and got the most results based off typing in, "xb altezzas".

altezza style is what you are looking for. in Japan the is300 is the toyota altezza which was one of the first vehicles to be mass produced with a chrome tail light with red covering just a bit. personally i hate the look on anything other than the altezza/IS but to each his own. i did the candy redout on my stock tails because its different (around here) and subtle

i dont like the altezza lights either, they came with the car when I bought it from my sister. I also did the redout on some oem lights I purchased myself.

Red out is the way to go, I personally think it looks great and better than the clear unless your car is silver or clearing out all lights.

From searching around here....

The TYC Tail lights use a special wiring harness that plugs directly into the xB's tail light connector, Toyota Part# PTS25-52041-WH About $26 per side PLus shipping....

Hope the ones I have coming have the harnesses....

Don't be to happy.... The wiring harness doesn't seem to be easily available, as in not at all... Back ordered everywhere with no eta on availability....

Might have to construct one by hand....

Hours later......

Just got home from a brief tour of local auto parts stores looking for sockets to put into my recently purchased OEM TYC Altezza style tails that came without the wiring harness "SIGH" No Joy.... Altho I did see that the bulb sizes are embossed into the plastic on the rear of the tails....

Now if I could find out what the sockets are and where to get them....

Dave
