MY wife's 06 tc is having stereo issues. The stock unit is constantly turning off/on on its own, displaying random characters and basically having a mind of its own 50% of the time. I took the center console out and had a look. Everything seems to be in place and connected. Could this be a sign the stereo is just in need of a replacement?

I've heard of this, most people take it back to Toyota for a replacement when that happens if they're under warranty so I suppose it's not something we can fix. If not, most people go aftermarket after that point, it's easy enough, I'm a complete noob who was unsatisfied with the Pioneer Radio and switched it out for a Valor sd900w plus did it right myself on first try. A world of difference.

 

aftermarket radio is super easy, and def. worth it. You can get a base pioneer double din for like $350 new. If you'd rather have oem, I have my stock radio, PM me if you want it
