Default Hail!

Just got my tC on Saturday, and on Sunday the storms came, with HAIL. It occurred to me, oh sh*t, my new car has a glass top, yikes. I ran out and covered her with towels, how embarassing for her. I've heard about the windshields being weak...anyone have any idea if the top glass is built to withstand a little hail, within reason?

I should freakin hope so. Otherwise that would suck. I wouldn't worry about it unless the hail was the size of a baseball or something. Plus if it was hailin big hail i dont think towels would help much since they are coming down so hard. But it should be able to withstand hail.

i doubt the top can withstand some hail. it's happened to a couple of people already - spontaniuously, thier sunroof will just pop and shatter...
i get totally worried. it's only thin tempered glass....

I've had a car totalled in the past by some crazy hail, good news is, it totals your car pretty easy, when you get a dent in each panel...

Don't you think the Toyota ENGINEERS thought about this???? I'm sure your car will withstand hail fine, within reason. Of course it's not gonna stand up to 3 inch hail, but pea size, regular hail, it should be fine.

whoa, those pics, what pain. Guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed that we only get dime size here. And no prb on the upside down, you are right! :-)
The Beetle, four times airbag malfunction and convertible top wouldn't work, electrical prbs too, and it was only 8 months old.

----hoping for a garage in my future

Thank god for beautiful, sunny [for the most part] California. Los Angeles is the only place to be.

[weather-wise, of course... traffic, that's a diff story]

Yeah, but that's ridiculous hail, it busted out the windshields too.

unless an earthquake hits and something falls on your car, or the car falls into a giant sink hole.

and is New Mexico known for hail, since that's where the pics are from?
