Question on valve cover and other "paint" ideas in bay
Well I would like to do green and picked up some and did a few things going off of a few other members here who have did it, question is the valve cover, im a little nervous to pull it off and paint it, ive read some diy's but Is there anything to really look out for? Plz excuse how filthy the bay is right now it needs a thorough cleaning....
I don't think I've seen anyone actually pull off the valve cover and paint it. I've pulled off the plastic cover on my old first gen and painted that. You can get a valve cover off a Camry to paint though.

Looks good. Lots of tC2 owners have pulled off the valve cover to paint and bake it. Just make sure when you have it off you cover the engine with something that will not allow any dirt or debris to get in and make sure the valve cover and gasket does not get dirty at all. other than that you should be ok.
Easy Peasy stuff man. Just TAKE YOUR TIME. All you gotta do is carefully unbolt and move everything off the top of the engine cover (Make sure you move and unbolt EVERYTHING on top of or holding the cover on), take the cover off, tape a garbage bag over it so no dirt or anything gets in there, paint, then reverse everything to put it back!
Few tips:
-If you sand it, use REALLY FINE sandpaper and wetsand. It's an aluminum cover so it will leave scratch marks if you sand with a low grit.
-Heat cycle the paint. Once everythings good to go turn your engine on for 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc. And let it cool down for a bit inbetween each cycle.
-Please for the love of god, clear coat it! If you don't then it will more than likely chip and you'll have even more fun painting it a second time
-Even if it's covered with a trash bag, don't leave the engine without the cover on overnight. Why? A trashbag can't stop dew. Water vapor is more determined than you are with your trashbag and tape
