Default Exhaust Noise (ticking) 2012

Hello,

Wanted to see if anyone else has this or heard it.

I got a 2012 with about 3,500 miles. It has been making noise from underneath (middle) where exhaust runs under the car. Sounds like ticking you would hear when the exhaust cools down on a hot car.

But....it happens during idle (slower but well paced like once/twice every 7 seconds and loud enough to hear inside). When you turn if off after a drive it happens louder and more frequent ticking.

Runs fine otherwise but kinda annoying and louder then I would expect....
Don't hear a leak under acceleration. running 89 gas with mobil1 5-20 oil.

Normal? or something to look into?

Thanks for the help.

If you can reliably reproduce it while idling and it's as easy to hear as you say, I suggest taking it to the dealer.

Could be the scuba tank... Used to get weird ticking noises on the 07-09 Camrys with the 2AZFE motors. Some would make 'em at idle and others would have to be around 1500-2500 rpms to make any noise. Best we could figure is that something inside the center exhaust pipe (scuba tank) came loose. Good luck, yo.

I made an appointment. I doubt it's anything knowing that the dealer will probably say that. It's not loud enough to be a leak but I think it's the piping either touching something under heat making noise or internal noise. who knows i guess.

Thanks for your insight tho
