my shifter cable seems like its broken its loose. it can go in any gear is ther any way to change it with out removing the dash.

 

Have you checked to see if the brackets that hold the cables in place are secure? Do you still have the stock rubber cable bushings? If so they may be shot. Just throwing some ideas at you. I think one of those would be the most likely culprits. Shifter cables are fairly strong.
