A friend of mine workd closely with a local authorized Greddy distributor/installer here in new england. They said they're getting lots of information about the new kit for the tC right now, and Greddy says they may be released in a few weeks.

Of course, the distributor also said to take this "three weeks" timeframe with a grain of salt and not to mark it on the calendar.

I'm waiting for a call back to see if they have any idea on price/specs.

Has anyone else heard any new information?

Just to drop this ahead of time.... I have a pretty decent account with Greddy so I know I'll get these kits at cost.

If Greddy comes out with the kit, you can bet that I'll have it, and at a great price.

It doesn't sound like there is any "if" about these kits... "when" is the question.

I got a call back, and they still have no price/specs/other info except that they expect to have prices and specs as well as taking orders in two weeks. They say Greddy is in the final stages of testing.

Of course, two weeks is the magic time frame.. so I'm still a little skeptical, but I'll be skeptical until I take a trip to their facility and see the kits in person.

I will say, though, that the company this info is coming from is excellent. They're the only place within 1000 miles that I'd trust to do the install/tuning, so even eif the kit isn't released in exactly 14 days, I expect to get more info very very soon.

Greddy sent this message to me when i asked if a kit was out.

"Currently there is not confirmed release for the xB turbo kit.
We have been special ordering the Japanese bB turbo kit for some dealers, and it will work if you find a xB wiring diagram and match up the correct wires for the kit and retune the emanage. (bB has different ECU wiring)"

Did they say if they are using a T3 turbo or something else?

Base Greedy kit should be about $4000.00 with intercooler about $5500.00 so quality is up there, I could almost have a ZPI kit AND a SS kit.

well they are still not saying they will come out with it, having problems with the emisions, why did toyota have to try and make this car so low on emision rating, they cant do any mod's because of that,
(quote) Thanks for your interest in GReddy Products Currently there are no confirmed plans for a turbo kit for the tC. We are testing a vehicle, but have not decided yet if we will offer it or another type of forced induction kit. However we may release a something later this year. The location of the factory catalytic converter, makes it difficult to produce an emissions friendly bolt-on turbo kit.

ok this whole GReddy thing is out of control. I just got off the phone with the people at the real Greddy in CA. They said the following:

18G Turbo
230HP at low boost (i assume he's talking around 6 PSI)
two options: w/FMIC and w/o FMIC
price: $3200-4000 depending on FMIC option and dealer location
release date: late 2005

hope this settles any problems or rumor stuff. thank you.

I emailed GReddy and their reply wasn't very exciting...

"Thanks for your interest in GReddy Products
Currently we do not offer a turbo kit for the Scion TC. We do have a test vehicle, that we are experimenting with, but currently we are undecided if we will offer a kit to the public. It really depends on the demand and if we feel we can develop a suitable, emissions friendly kit with good power and reliability.

They don't even know if they are going to sell a turbo for the tC!

I find the 2 weeks thing a little hop happy, but i don't doubt that eventually they will have a bolt on, I doubt the bolt on will have much power (Carb EO compliant) But I am sure they will offer upgrades with "This kit is for off road use only" in the description.

They don't even know if they are going to sell a turbo for the tC!

The reason why they're are unsure yet because they are still experimenting. They haven't received or made any unique parts for the tC. For example, they're using some of the same parts as they would on a Civic; more specific example, they are working with a type 31V FMIC and testing different injectors (probably 500-550cc) and trying to see if this 18G turbo is the better way to go as opposed to the EVOIII 16G turbo (which was used in the Mitsu Eclipse GST/GSX). They want to use the 18G because more power is available for those who want it and for those who don't can ran at low boost and still have a significant increase in power without stress on the engine. Give them time people, GReddy will have a kit out before TRD comes out with a supercharger, and I trust GReddy much more than I do TRD, but that's just my opinion.

i just checked at a local speed shop sacramento motoring accessories and the clerk said that greddy will release a complete kit for the tc in about a couple of months.
he said it will retail for about $2000 and install labor will be about $700. not bad for a complete kit installed for under $3000. i'll keep every posted if i hear anymore about it.

Greddy always sells for 3-5k msrp. When it is actually released, it will be discounted down to 2k without intercooler and 22.5k with intercooler. You get what you pay for though. Greddy turbo kits are usually total crap.

Not really they are just detuned so they are street legal ussally... Those that know how to make more power out of em makes it worth it for that carb stickers for us here in cali.

I'd dissagree with crap... they get a ton of business... and are solely as stated above, de-tuned... so you can really take them stock and make them fun with little tweaks.

The Carb # is gold here in California. If you are into tuning your car, Unless you have them you don't have any street cred at all in my book. Street car vs. track car. Any one can make power from their car when they don't worry about emissions and Leagal "red tape". If you have a 300 whp CA street legal car from a econo box four cylinder; You know your stuff and much props. The Greddy kit will be easy to tune to around 250 whp if you know what you are doing, and if you are committed I'm sure you can get it up to 300 whp with time and money.

i just got an email from Greddy and they said that the tubro they are producing will probably be release in the middle of next year. they also informed me that no pricing has yet been anounced. so i guess we will just have to wait and see
