was shopping around for a used car that got good mileage. when I saw the prices of used I thought, hell, might as well buy something new and not have to worry about it. Wife wanted an xB, so that would've been the other choice.
It's all about the fuel economy with 4 doors and a hatchback. Nothing on the market but those two. Of course, if I were in Europe, things would be different. I love the Toyota Aygo and its relatives. Think of it as an xA but shorter, with only 3 cylinders. I'd replace my wife's Integra with that in a flash. Cheap too![/b]
Since my main concern was fuel economy, I test drove a Honda Civic Hybrid about 2 weeks before I ordered the Xa. If the Honda place had stocked my color, I might have taken one of those.
Looking back, I don't think it would have been worth it to pay the extra 5K to get another 8-10 MPG.
The Civic doesn't look nearly as cool as my Xa either.

I looked at the xA, but I'm probably going to buy a vibe. For not much more $$, you're looking at keyless entry, cruise control, sunroof, longer wheel based (more comfortable ride) and gas milage almost equal the xA. My next car will likely be a vibe.
I think the Vibe getting close to xA mileage is wishful thinking. Realistically, I get 30 mpg in mostly city driving with the xA. I'd expect 25-26 in a Vibe with similar driving, considering its added weight and larger profile.
