Default Universal LED Turn Signal Kit for Mirrors

I found these on eBay and I think I kinda like them. The turn signal lights flash one by one, progressively, in the direction of the turn. I was considering mounting lights like this on my xB side mirrors.

Universal Amber LED Turn Signal Light Kit

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...983036967&rd=1

Cost: $27.50 shipped

I know TheScionMan has similar side mirror LED turn signal lights he purchased from JCWhitney; but I don't think his are Asian (which may indicate superior quality) and I don't think his flash progressively.

Anyone have experience with these? Any comments?

Yeah, I've seen those. They aren't as wide as mine and mine don't do the sequential thing. I wonder how the timing of that will look with the regular blinking signals. (They were USDM, but please don't tell anyone...)

The other thing to consider is "Where are the wires going to go? To really do it the smoothest, you would drill a hole in the housing for the wires and the hole would be covered by the signal. At the time, didn't trust the product enough to drill my housings and I think having the wire running externally looks ultra-tacky. I wrapped mine so that the end was flush with the outer edge of the mirror housing and the wire wraps around the edge and then behind the mirror and down to the sidemarkers inside the door/fender. That leaves just a small spot that you really see the wiring. Besides making the wire the least conspicuous, it allows the turn signal to be seen from the side and the front. I can even see the edge glowing from the drivers seat so they may even help slightly from the back too.

Good luck and let us know how it works out.

All the points that you just brought up were on my mind when I ordered the set.

All are challenges to try to overcome, or be shot down in defeat.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Those actually look kind of cool. I would install them on the bottom of the mirrors.

I was considering the bottom mirror mounting too using aluminum "L" or "T" stock. I also was considering double light strips, one facing forward and one facing back, on the bottom of the mirror.

I first need to test the lights for brightness, timing of the sequence, mounting, wiring, etc. I tend to move slowly on my projects. I'll keep everyone posted.
