Default springs and spacers? good idea?

Hey guys, thinking about the Goldline springs which i hear give about a 2" drop front and rear, and combining that with 20mm front spacers and 25mm rear spacers...

Anyone try a setup like that yet? Or anyone forsee any problems with the combo? I want my car to look good, but i don't want it to be at the expense of having to drive 5 miles an hour on any road that has a couple small bumps.

I'd also like to hear from anyone that's used spacers... I can't imagine them being good for the car, since they're just adding more stress to other parts, but a lot of people still use them, so maybe with small spacers it's ok...

I'd appreciate any advice. Rock on.

wow man those are really big spacers.

i dunno much bout spacers but 20/25 is a lot.

my rims sit +35 mm and they are flush with the fenders (except the rear needs a 5mm spacers to finsh it up)

so if you put a 20/25mm, the offset will be something lik 22/17. which will have your wheels stick out lik crazy.

but im no expert. wait for some better advice

I have pictures of 20Front and 20Rear with S-Tech and stock shocks on this thread.
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=63775

CurrierTech also posted pictures on the fourth page of his TC with 20Front and 25Rear with TRD shocks and springs.

I replaced the front with 15 because of light scuffing with 20 if I don't slow down when I hit big dips. No problem for me on slightly rough roads with the 20, only on dips especially rain gutters on some intersections.

spacers are fine for daily driving on regular streets. once you goto the track or put down alot of horsepower, then safety becomes a concern. i have 20mm H&R spacers on my 240sx. i considered some for my tc, but i'm saving up for wider wheels instead.

spacers or low offset wheels put greater stress on the hub. while you dont have to worry about the wheel falling off or anything catastrophic, they will wear out the wheel bearings faster.

thanks guys.... bodjie, those 20mm look great on your car.. do you still get the scuffing with 15?

maybe a 15/20 combo would be a little safer...

also, i checked out those h&r spacers and they're like $120 a set, but if you go to the pepboys site they have a bunch of different spacers by a company called Mr Gasket for like 20 bucks... is that safe? is there a such thing as cheap spacers that could cause problems?

^^Thanks for the compliment. No more rubbing issues with 15 front and it looks better. It's more proportion since on stock, the rear is more tucked in than the front. 15 front and 20 rear is perfect IMO.

I wouldn't buy the $20 pep boys spacers. Spend the money on H & R, those are hub centric. The pep boys item are probably not so it's basically just a very thick washer. It might cause some balancing issues if not centered properly.

I'll post pics of my new set-up of 15 front and 20 rear on that thread tonight. You might not be able to tell the difference from the original 20-20 because 5mm is very small but it did solve my rubbing issue. I guess it was just rubbing a little bit with the 20, plus I didn't really see any marks on the plastic under the fender well when I had 20's.
