Default scratch in paint and detailing question....

Hi all.

Well, I washed my car for the first time this weekend. And guess what.... there must've been a piece of dirt or something in the sponge that I used, cuz i have a group of small scratches on the hood. Any ideas for getting them out?

I tried to wax and buff them out, but it didn't work.

Also, what is the best thing to use to detail the inside (dash, doors, etc.)

I have these armor-all wipes, but i've not used them yet!

Thanks in advance

Jason

I personally like warm water on a sponge to clean the interior. Leaves no shine or residue.

As for the scratches, try a higher quality wax (I use Mequiers NXT) and perhaps a buffer to get them out. Or get used to Scion's sub-par paint quality.

you may want to go to www.autopia.org and ask the forums there.....

if your interior wasn't shining/glossy when you got the car, I wouldn't use the armorall.....I know mine isn't and I just use a damp/wet microfiber....

Meguires Scratch-X for the paint. And a slightly damp mircrofiber towel from Costco will do a good job on your interior....

As far is the interior agree with most everyone else. I use a damp terry cloth towel to clean the interior and then use a microfiber cloth to apply Eagle One Protectant . It keeps my black interior vivid without a glossy, slippery finish.

I see alot of people on here who only use water to clean the interior. While I'm sure it does a good job and makes it look nice when you're done, you're not doing anything to protect it. I don't want my dash or doors to fade and crack over time. Water will not provide any UV protection. I say use Armorall or NXT Tech Protect.

^^^only reason I don't use that stuff is that it tries to make it glossy and makes it greasy.....

Most of the newer formulations have a "Low Gloss" version available. I haven't been able to locate the NXT Tech Protect in my local stores yet, but I hear that it's not greasy at all. Also 303 Aerospace protectant works great and is non-greasy.
