Hey guys, I am in the market for a new car and love the tC's. My friend is looking to give me his for 12k out the door (financial problems) and I wanted to know what you guys think about the 2005. It's in fairly tip top shape but I have some questions:

1. The push cover for the radio seems to be off or loose, or broken. Is this a big issue to fix, or do they all come flimsy?

2. I've test driven the 2006's, do the 2005's do the same color switching for the radio (blue, red, etc.) Does it change it for the ugly amber in the dash as well?

3. Can I upgrade the 2005 wheel to the 2006 sexy one?

4. Anything else you think I should know...

For 12k out the door, seems like a great deal, especially if he has any accessories on it. The push cover is a minor issue, I think the '05s change colors but maybe not as many, but you cannot change the wheels around, as of yet.

All three things seemed like minor issues for a great deal.

 

the colors only change if you have the 6-disc cd changer.

 

Dude. Almost everything from the 2006 and 05 is exactly the same... goto Scion.com and see what the 06 have and search around for the 05

The wheels are the same... it's only a upgrade options if you want the 18" wheels...
Unless you mean the steering wheel... that's different.... 06 has audio controls
05 and 05 Floor Mats are a tiny bit different. Deck is upgraded in the 06
The color changing LCD is from the 6 CD Changer.

 

Oh, forgot to ask. The silver bar/border on the left side that runs from the side of the AC controls to the top of the radio has a lot of scratches on it, can this be replaced?For a lot?

Dude it's 12K! The guy before me is right... usually the marrket value for a 05 used is about 18K!!! You saving some $$$ If you want the thing replace that's you iono how serious the scratches are but... I think you are getting a really good deal

if you don't buy, then you're really missing out. IMO, a 2005 stock tC at this month should be around the low 15s.....

 

Also if its Indigo Ink Pearl or Silver Streak Mica , it will definitly be worth it . Considering those colors were discontinued and dropped for the 06 line up .

 

How many miles? Unless it has an absurd amount of miles for the time he had it, you are passing up a great opportunity to get it at that price. If I had had a friend selling a tC for that price before I bought mine, I would have given him $500 over what he asked to be nice and help him a little with his finances since he's discounting the car that much.
