For those that have the XB, could you please tell me if the rear doors have the child safety locks so they can only be opened from the outside?

View Full Version : Child Locks? Sevedd 03-17-2004, 12:59 AM For those that have the XB, could you please tell me if the rear doors have the child safety locks so they can only be opened from the outside? XBman 03-17-2004, 01:05 AM Nope they dont sry Sevedd 03-17-2004, 01:18 AM Thanks for the quick reply, I guess I will have to figure out something.. Rayman 03-17-2004, 01:20 AM I can't figure out why they left this out. It just doesn't make sense. Sevedd 03-17-2004, 01:22 AM Yeah I just don't understand having the latch system but not the child locks.. I have a 2 year old who hate his car seat and loves to reach for door handles! WS_Scion 03-17-2004, 01:31 AM Page 10 of the xB Owner's Manual shows how to use the rear door child protection locks. I tested it on my car was unable to open the door from the inside of the car. It's a little lever near the latch. Sevedd 03-17-2004, 01:35 AM I don't have a manual, however are you saying that there is a lock but just not located on the back doors? Rayman 03-17-2004, 01:35 AM So they do have the locks? I'm confused now. Where is my xB! I need to see. BoomBox757 03-17-2004, 01:37 AM Just put some duct tape over the handle  WS_Scion 03-17-2004, 02:06 AM Both back doors have little levers near the latch (the doors have to be open to access the lever). When you slide the lever into the lock position that door can't be opened from the inside - you pull the handle and nothing happens. Good thing I only tested it on the right side door! Rayman 03-17-2004, 02:13 AM Well I'm glad it has them even though I probably don't need them anymore at this time. Good for the people that do have young kids. I remember reading a review somewhere or some web site with specs that indicated it did not have child safety locks. I thought it was weird and that it might of been an error on the web site. I'm glad it was. lavabox 03-17-2004, 02:44 AM :D :D That is confirmed by me. I saw them also. Little lever almost in the latch mechanism in the door. Not the most user friendly (can be greasy or dirty later) but it works. Sevedd 03-17-2004, 03:13 AM Perfect! I feel a lot better now. All I have to do now is hold out for another 2 months and then scoop one up.. Thanks for all the responses. |
