If you could have the choice of an '05 or an '06 xA, which would you choose and why? What do you guys (and gals) think the pros and cons of each are?

 

05 = Cheaper.
06 = Radio controls on steering wheel, new lights, new front grille, new rear bumper, side skirts painted body color etc..

They are the same car under the sheet metal. Its just what all you want. If you would be putting on the TYC tails, getting a different grille, upgrading the radio etc, I would just save the money & look for a 05.

 

I like the new aggressive front bumper and color matched side skirts on the 06...but at the same time i don't like the rear bumper and tails...

I'd have to go w/ 06

I wouldn't get the 05 just because it's not carrying all of those new 'goodies' but i do like the rear bumper bunches more.

 

I'm still kind of partial to the bubbley look of the '05 but the agressive look of the '06 is awesome. It will be interesting to see it as an RS model.

It seems like the sites that normaly lent you compare pics, has yet to get any of the 2006. Even the pics yahoo has listed, in there auto section, are 05 pics.

 

^ I agree about the rear bumper and grille... The tails are ok, the side skirts I'm 50/50 on. I do like the radio controls and some of the newly available accessories. I voted 2006 because of the added stuff but you may want to wait and see what and if an RS comes along...

we have an 05 and an 06 in the family and my 06 gets a ton more looks and wanabees than the 05....

I was told customers wanted a more cleaner, stealth look with newer cars.

 

Original design will always be the best and remember that. The only add-on i like on the new 06' is the Turning Signal Lights on the Side Mirror and the MP3/Ipod Connection.

I got a first run 04 XA. I love it. Screw the i-pod capability, after market HU id better anyways. I don't think the 06 looks very agressive at all, actually looks softer and that grill is pretty weak. M 04 is still the ____!

I haven't checked prices in a while, so I don't know how much difference there is. Unless the '05 is a lot less now, I would get an '06. Here's why: Someday down the road when you go to sell or trade it, the newer year will simply be worth more. The only time it's worth buying the "left-over" year, is when they give deep discounts on the price to offset the difference in resale value later. From what I've seen, Scion isn't giving deep discounts. They're giving away toys to make it more tempting. I have a 2005 xA and I love it, but if I were buying one now, I'd get a 2006. Heck, I'd do it for the VOLUME **** alone!

 

I agree...I really like the steering wheel controls, ipod connectivity, and side skirts.
A 04/05 bumper painted is like.. 200-250 bucks...tail lights are like 100 bucks. :D
