Default Nitrous, yay or nay

Guys, my buddy wants to sell me his Nitrous Works wet system, but I never seen to many people with Nitrous on their 1NZ-FE, so it makes me kind of nervous. Does anyone out there have a system installed? If you do, do you have any tips for setting a system up correctly?

I say nay, because nitrous on a 1.5l is like jet powered skates.

You MIGHT get away with running a 35-50 shot but I would be worried about even that. Aluminum doen't like excessive heat and it will melt so................

jet powered skates sounds awesome....

I'd probably run a 55 shot. Lots of guys run superchargers, why no nitrous love?

I'm overly cautious and the risk to reward factor isn't that great

I'd say super charged power for 1/6th the price is a pretty good reward factor

but it's more expensive when you factor in re-filling all the time. and the fact that nitrous is just short bursts . not a constant type thing like a s/c or a turbo.

i personally wouldn't run nitrous but......

if i did i'd run a 35 shot.

Do it! do a 25 once. No one uses NO2 because not many tuners are tuning these vehicles for performance, instead they're preparing these scion cars for looks (shows). Why not try it and be a pioneer, but don't go overboard.

You will fry your motor. I'll put money on it. The first time you learn what happens when your engine leans out with a nitros kit on it will be the last. Thats all I can say!!!

it is all in the delivery system of nitrous. and the properties of burning nitrous...
it tends to just kick in. this kick hurts the 1nz-fe motors...
anything over a 35 shot and the motor will be at risk.

there was a guy on here who tried NOx.
did a 100 shot and the motor blew the first run...
did a 75 shot and got about 10 runs down the track...
did a 50 shot and it lasted for 30 runs...

turbos and superchargers build up there boost and is easier on the internals...

It's like crystal meth for your engine, sure you'll go faster, but for how long?

It's a quick and dirty way to get more power, it's not the most stable way. Not naming names, there was a member who was juicing until he came up with a bent valve. May or may not have been caused by the bottle, they were lucky enough to get it covered (after getting it covered up...)

Just be sure to NOT run platinum plugs. Platinum does NOT like nitrous...Before you know it, the electrode will be sitting on top of the piston banging around...

Why is everyone hating on the nitrous. For someone who doesn't want to spend $4000+ on Fi it isn't a bad option, and if you use it right you will be fine. A 35 shot on a wet kit.. how would this lean out the motor? A wet kit gives the extra fuel to the motor with the nitrous spray. I do agree that anything more than a 35 shot would be pushing it and if you use it all the time it will take some life off of your motor. But used when you need that extra little boost it will be fine. I say go for it. Just my $.02 though.
