Sure the Supercharger keeps warranty, what about longterm?
I got to thinking, sure its warranted, but surely it is going to take away the life of the engine. I imagine even with upkeep and proper timed oil changes, wouldnt it surely take the life of the engine down in the long run?
Figure toyotas are known to be reliable and last, but how long could they last on a supercharger without causing some kind of internal problems. You figure the cars are most likely going to be ran pretty hard, or else people wouldnt be getting something to go faster...
Whats your outlook on it? Some cars are built internally from the manufacture for boost/superchargers, and I know most people say superchargers or boost make the engines run a lot hotter...
Whats your views on it taking away the life of the engine in long term?
Attn Mods...Any chance of getting a sub forum for power hungry for the supercharger or forced induction? Or at least just the trd supercharger, since its the only scion with a factory supercharger, figure may help with all these posts to keep them more organized? just a though. thx!

Since the tC has forged internals, it should hold up pretty well. Look at all the Audis, saabs, and vovlos driving around with turbos for the past 10-15 years. Its also realtively low boost so it should be too harsh.
I agree about the F/I section being created..it sure would help to keep everything more orderly...especially for those not interested in going FI, but thats another thread that should be posted in Website Discussion.

from what I have heard, Turbo cuts an engine's life by 1/2 and supercharger by 1/4. So most ppl that value their engine's life more would usually go for the s/c and those who seek more power and care less about the life would go for the turbo.
Now before anyone try to correct me, I know some of ur guys might bring up the facts that many cars like Evo, skyline have turbos in them and lots of them held up pretty well. In my opinion, their engines are "built" for turbos, so I guess they should. Now I'm not saying those n/a engines that arent built for s/c or turbos will die much sooner, it also depends on many factors such as schduled maintences, time to time check up, etc. If you run a low boost and take good care of it, it might just run as well as those engines that are built with turbos. My point is, in MOST cases, Turbo cuts an engine's life by 1/2 and supercharger by 1/4 for those n/a engines that aren't built for it. (IMHO, I think it's the owner's fault that they think they know turbos but they might not)

The reason it seems that turbos cut the engine life more is becuase of the greater boost. Supercahrgers generaly generate less boost because of the parasitic drag. It is not the turbo that cuts on the life of teh engine but the boost so if you get a smaller turbo with smaller boost it will have the same engine life as a s/c. Now personally i like s/c more but not because of longer life expactansy because of no lag and less chance of overheating. However if you want more power turbo is def the way to go even with lag.\]]
oh by overheating i dont mean the engine overhearting i mean all the extra crap you gota put into your car for the turbo like coolers and exhaust which is not needed as much ona s/c and s/c are less work in general
