Is it me, or is the xB a little stiff .. ( UPDATED 4/23/04)
i noticed yesteday taking a road trip up 295 that the spaces inbetween the concrete was causing the car to buck, almost making it an uncomfortable ride. I dont think that it so much had to do with the bigger wheels, as so much the suspension on these lil boxes. The ride just seems stiff, and with 750 miles so far, i thought it would have loosened up a little more. Anyone know of a softer ( no so much lower ) spring on the market?
Yeah it's stiff. I came from a Camry and I consider the Camry as a Cadillac compared to the stiffness
People here have been going with the Goldlines for a somewhat softer ride. Although the goldlines dont have those plastic wrappings on the springs to minimize noise.
I'm still riding stock. I think it's not really a springs issue but more of the shocks. I've read that we have stock shocks made by Tokico. Since we have "sport tuned" suspensions, the Tokicos have a shorter shock throw compared to typical stock shocks. Thus you feel the bouncy ness.
Another reason could be the tire pressure. What's your cold air pressure? I was riding 40PSI for 400 miles before I checked it. I was ____ED!!!!

I don't run these springs, so I can't say for sure, but I think they are more comfort and less drop.

The H tech's. 1" drop and comfort is what they advertise.

From what i have heard and seen here, the Goldlines are a decent ride; i think this is the set that Munch went with. Coilovers are a bit more pricey, and i havent heard about the ride with them yet. I wonder if Echo shocks and springs would loosen it up a little bit? What to do, what to do .....
i have tanabe DF210's on my box and it rides like butter, but that's because the tanabe's have a softer spring rate than the other springs
lower spring rate = smoother ride
higher spring rate = more sporty ride
i've ridden in cars with the spy, goldline and eibach springs, and they all feel about compraible to me, just a tad firmer than the tanabes (which a lot of people like, beacaue it feels a bit more sporty), and they all ride MUCH better than stock.
my mom even said my car rides better lowered, and that's saying a lot about the stock suspension!

Brain, how much and where did you end up getting the springs? How much of a lowering did they put on your ride? I would like to keep it as close to stock height as i can, but definately want to loose the stiffness.
Tein H Tech less drop softer rate. I spoke with the rep at the Tein booth at IAS. Told him what I was looking for, smother ride on the Fwy. He recommended the H Tech.

The answer is out there, probably in a wrecking yard! All that is required is a little research and experimentation.

The back has a tenedency to buck sometimes over uneven pavement. I just had the TRD springs put in and the 18's thrown on for ____s and giggles and it is even stiffer. It is nice to push it through turns now though.
But yes I agree on the bouncy part. I had my Mom and sister in law in the back this weekend for a wedding and we were driving on the Cross Bronx and the LIE....NY roads suck ___ yo! I thought Boston roads blew dog......I was wrong!

Just wanted to pass this along. It looks like this may be the answer for those of us who wanted a better ride, and not a big drop.
