View Full Version : Any Maryland Automatic Tranny TC's Interested?
ScionDad 11-02-2005, 07:57 PM TurboEast.com is looking for any local Automatic Transmission TC owner (Mount Airy, MD ) to allow some R&D on their tranny for a valve body upgrade and Electronic Shift Kit upgrades. PM me for information and I'll shoot you to the contact.
I ordered their Lexus E.S.K and should have it early next week and installed. Results will follow. However, the valve body upgrade which will certainly make these transmissions thump needs to be done locally...I'm sure a free upgrade is in it for who ever signs up.
Right now, they only do this for the Lexus series...so I trust them with our TC's.
jmiller20874 11-02-2005, 08:20 PM Definitely put this in Mid-Atlantic region, I'm sure there'll be someone interested. I'm pretty local to them but fortunately I'm manual.

MysTiKchRis 11-02-2005, 08:28 PM you have the wiring diagram for the electronic shift kit?
ScionDad 11-02-2005, 08:32 PM you have the wiring diagram for the electronic shift kit?
turboeast has it for the Lexus IS300 and Kenny at ZPI said it is the same for our TC. I will confirm as I'm wiring it up next week.
The valve body upgrade has to be done by them at first to map everything out.
MysTiKchRis 11-02-2005, 09:43 PM Cool. Thanks sciondad for doing this for us Auto Tran guys…

miamibusta69 11-02-2005, 11:20 PM what is this going to do? make it shift tiptronic?
ScionDad 11-02-2005, 11:27 PM what is this going to do? make it shift tiptronic?
Now THAT would be cool.
Well, here is the info on the Electronic Shift Kit from their site - Per the Lexus IS300
The TurboEast ESK eliminates sloppy shifts, hanging on the rev limiter, and allows transmission to shift with up to 320 rwtq with no internal transmission mods. Includes new and improved circuitry and a aluminum enclosure for improved heat dissipation.
This is the Valve Body Upgrade
The TurboEast Valve Body Upgrade cleans up the sloppy and slow stock shifting. Shifts are firmer, faster and more responsive. Developed for turbo, supercharged, naturally aspirated and nitrous applications. All stock functions along with E-shift are retained like stock.
And for the really power hungry (axle bending)
The first power failure point for this transmission is the sprag also know as a one way bearing. This upgrade should allow your tranny to hold over 500 rwtq. The next failure point in the stock clutch packs. Replacing of both the sprag and clutch packs will hold over 600 rwtq.

Thanks for doing this for the community. You are going to have the first modified automatic tranny TC.
If this kit does what mattssi said it did to his Lexus....these automatics will be a friggin BLAST to drive guys.
miamibusta69 11-02-2005, 11:45 PM so the auto will kick the manuals ___? Ill do it i wish it was in miami !
ScionDad 11-02-2005, 11:52 PM so the auto will kick the manuals butt? Ill do it i wish it was in miami !
In a 1/4 mile drag, the auto's only problem is high rpm launch from the line. But the advantage will "shift" back to the automatic by the first shift because staying in the power band 100% of the time and shifts that are slams as opposed to gliding as we do now or pushing a clutch on a manual 4 more times.
miamibusta69 11-03-2005, 12:15 AM every time i race a manuel i always launch off the line faster for like a second its that first gear shift that always gets me
lvnurs9 11-03-2005, 12:17 AM WreckedtC I LOVE the color on your car
ScionDad 11-03-2005, 01:06 AM every time i race a manuel i always launch off the line faster for like a second its that first gear shift that always gets me
The idea is to fix that with the shift kit
miamibusta69 11-03-2005, 02:39 AM how much would this be to do? sounds perfect
ScionDad 11-03-2005, 03:17 AM how much would this be to do? sounds perfect
Well, the electronic shift kit is $200. If even more thump is needed of 350+ hp, then the valve body upgrade kit should be used and that's like $450. Mattssi said he bought the ESK until he went high boost, then sold that and got the valve body upgrade. I may go valve body upgrade, but I want to see what the ESK will do for stage 0.
miamibusta69 11-03-2005, 03:28 AM No im running a n/a car witht he mods in my sig. i just want that hard shifting ! how muc u estimated with install

Install should be pretty easy. Can't be any more difficult that installing a head unit. It's electronic :relief: This is what mattssi says the connections are. You can actually turn it off to go back to stock control, or turn it on for stronger shift. The valve body upgrade is full time kick and really the final solution for moderate to heavy boost.
<snip>
On the lex - I had purchased a unit from turboeast that they made for the IS300, basically had a connection for power, load, rpm, and line pressure. It worked like a s-afc for the trans. Basically took a signal, and output a different one to increase line pressure under load/heavy throttle.

WreckedtC 11-03-2005, 02:59 PM I'll keep you all updated with whats happening.
I'm so excitied about this!

We are so busy here at the moment, I am not sure when exactly I will need a local car, but if you are interested email me at sam@turboeast.com. Thanks guys -Sam
jmiller20874 11-03-2005, 08:17 PM Hey Sam, do you guys need a bone stock (mechanically) manual tranny tC for anything?

damn..when i first saw sciondad talk about the electronic shift kit on other threads i thought he meant they gonna make a tiptronic for our cars! argh i was soo lookin forward to seeing that :(
miamibusta69 11-04-2005, 08:09 PM I just want hard shifts !!!!! I heard titronic is a lil bit slower any way

Well, I got the ESK today in the mail...but I have to send it back. This will be a piece of cake to wire up. There are 6 wires. Ground and 12v, Then there are 4 wires - 2 each red/back and 2 each yellow/black. Basically you will cut 2 wires that go to your transmission from the ECU and place this inline with that (2 wires in and 2 wires out to ECU). It is specific which 2 wires are in and out and are labeled...except the test unit they sent which was missing one label and I wasn't going to guess. Hopefully have another unit by end of week to install.
Basically, what Sam told me is the unit will increase the speed in which your transmission shifts....no more gliding from gear to gear.
ScionDad 11-17-2005, 07:05 PM The replacement unit with marked wires is on it's way according to Sam at Turboeast.com
I asked about switching between factory shift and the E.S.K and he said no problem. When you install it (piece of cake guys), put a switch inline with the 12v power wire and flip switch cutting power for stock performance.
Works for me.
BrEaK_AwaY 11-17-2005, 08:47 PM so in other words, turn the ESK on when u wanna race, off when daily drivin.
i am intrested in how this performes on a tC
scion-tist 11-25-2005, 06:32 PM sweet, cant wait to see it done!!!
ScionDad 11-30-2005, 09:29 PM Sam faxed me the install sheet today. Piece of cake to wire in. I will have a full writeup with pics in the power hungry section as soon as I'm finished.
I removed my turbo to make changes for air to water intercooling and some other mods...but left it off for now until I get this wired in. I wanted to test it on a stock setup first...get some videos. Then re-install my turbo and get video with FI.
ScionDad 12-03-2005, 06:47 PM How to posted in Power Hungry
soGone 07-10-2006, 07:18 AM GOOD BLESS YOU ALL... cant wait to get my hands on one... my tC wants the 15's bad :)
Tecrun19 07-11-2006, 04:26 AM HORAY FOR AUTO'S !!! I love turn on for power, off for everyday stuff. I cant wait for this thing especially becuase its the summer and I now have money ! now the waiting......
miamibusta69 07-11-2006, 04:37 PM scion dad have you gotten this to work? with or without the turbo kit
Tecrun19 07-21-2006, 03:17 PM In case anyone wants an update they are busy with IS300 work. They want to make a production run though after they re-design it. Not 100% sure they will make it but its better than nothing
