poping/snap sound when I launch the TC?
So I'm sure I'm not making too much power with K&N/AW and exhaust but when I launch my car I hear pop/snap sound from the front end. Anyone had this issue before? My intake is secure/coushined, my strut bar is secure and under normal driving everything is cool. The exhaust, header & S all secured with spring bolts and has reasonable give. Usually when I rip second gear.
Ideas??

I just added the suspension because sometimes things can work there way loose especially on not so great roads. I see it all the time at work.
Do you feel anything in the clutch pedal as it is released when the sound happens..? Why I hate the darn drive by wire crap, take the feel of the engine away! You can also feel allot of what the engine is doing through a throttle cable...
I bought my tC not too long ago, it only has 700 miles on it, before it broke in i had to get on it at least once, so i slammed pretty hard into second and heard the same thing you did. It was really startling feeling, it felt almost like something snapped off and broke. I've got on it pretty hard since then, and when i slam gears really hard the same thing happens. I'm kinda new to tC's still but the only thing I can think of is maybe it has something to do with the advanced breaking system, i hear it's supposed to act as a mild form of traction control, if this is true then cars with traction control arent really meant to launch or bang gears on. It may be the breaks sensing that there is too much power hitting them all at once so it tries to tame it down but instead the rotors just break free from the calipers making that snapping noise. If you think about it if the tC had less power it would work as a form of traction control because if there wasn't enough power the calipers would stopped it from launching hard and slowly let off to make it smooth. May sound like an idiot, but that's my take on it.
Sorry, I'd like to say a little more. I'm not sure what you drove before your tC. If it was a honda or acura then your question would make sense. Honda and acura's, (the cheap baseline ones made oh so popular by a cop trying to be cool in the car world) are meant to be a very easy to drive car. Most people think you just get on it as hard as you can and that will make you faster. Driving is more of an art form then a form of aggression, which is a common misunderstanding that irritates me. Have you ever seen a professional japanese driver from a cockpit cam, they're completely calm, listening to classical music most of the time, the point i'm trying to make is that I believe tC's are commonly misunderstood in a variety of ways. Honestly, when I first test drove it, it just seemed like an average car. But after really driving it for a while and understanding it's capabilities i'm starting to realize that this is a very well built car. It all depends on the way you drive it. The tC isnt meant be slammed into gear. It has a typical toyota transmission, similar to a celica in it's smoothness, this car is more meant for concentrated skillful driving. I've spent some time learning how to drive this car right, and once you do it is a decently quick little machine for stock. Instead of going out and blowing as much money as you can to make it faster, focus on your driving for a while and when you know you can push that car to it's limits, feel free to buy something for it. My main point i'm trying to make is that if you dont want that popping noise, which i'm assuming is bad for the car, DRIVE IT RIGHT
the cracking a popping sound it cause by the sudden jolt to the motor mounts and other things(f/e) ur c/v joints make alot of noise when theire under abuse. ive had a camry 5 speed that did the same and also my freinds spec v (before motor mount inserts) all made the popping sounds. when a companie comes out with motor mount inserts alot of it will go a way. JUST REMEMBER THEY MADE THESE CARS FOR THE TUNER IN ALL OF USE AND THEY BETTER EXPECT THE WARRENTY TO COVER STUFF LIFE THAT(if it breaks) but i trust toyotas build quality
when you launch release the clutch alittle bit for a cleaner launch..
or launch with handbrake... its safe for your transmission. safe for the clutch. lift the hand brake up, release the clutch slowly intill car yanks forward, pre-rev the engine desired, then simultaneously stomp the gas, release the clutch, push down the handbrake, and launch off.
