Default ECU Learning..?

id like for someone to explain how the ECU "Learns" of a modification..?

the ECU is programmed to keep the engine at a certain Air/fuel ratio.. by taking all the reading from the sensors and then injecting the correct amount of fuel.. (shorten version)... almost every post i have read here about mods to your engine.. mentions letting the ECU learn of the mod... the way i see it.. the ECU will know of the modification emmidiately since the readings will change emmidiately....

if you install an intake... it's not like the ECU will not emmidiately see that the MAF is registering more incoming air... the minute you hit the gas and more air is registered the ECU will compensate with the proper amount of fuel... it does not take it;s time to learn the there is more air.. it emmidiately knows there is more air..

i understand that other guys have gotten better outcome after the ECU supposedly learned.. but this really does not make any sense

just starting a learning conversation..

i asked about this also, from what ive read and been told ...it learns very quickly, with a mod like intake or exhaust your not really doing some massive power adds...its a small amount so its easy and fast for the ecu to adjust

interesting stuff too! i'd like to learn more and more about it as well
