Default need help on DIY replacing Fuel Pump.

I am trying to replace my fuel pump to Power Enterprise 130LPH fuel pump.

I have no clue where the fuel pump is and all.

Asking for all SL people to help me out on this.

Can someone provide me with step by step or some direction towards this ?

Check service manual on Scionlife homepage for safe replacement, but I guess to answer your question, the pump is in the gas tank, I believe.

Theres nothing like having the service manual for DIY. I'd recommend droping the bill for a complete manual from the dealer.

Um, are you SURE you want to do this yourself? I understand the desire to do your own work, but this isn't the easiest install in the world. Most fuel pump replacements require at least one or two special tools without which it's hard to do the job without causing damage to the parts and still get a secure install.

If you're sour on your dealership, see if there's an independant shop you can have do this for you.

Toyota/Scion repair manuals are written for technicians (Japanese techs, actually, then translated into English) and are therefore not the best for the private owner. They will have lines like: "Remove front bumper cover, left wheel hub, and rear hatch door. Then, using tool 900-5463, remove the locking end cap assembly."

It may be better to find a Haynes or Chilton manual if one is available. They tend to be slightly more practical.

^^^^its easy as **** to change out the fuel pump in these cars...all you gotta do is rip the bottom of the backseat out(2 clips) and then take a 10mm wrench and unbolt the access panel and pull out the sending unit...unclip the sending unit and unclip the harness from the fuel pump and swap out. Then put everything back the way you took it out. DO NOT pay someone to switch fuel pump out...its as easy as changing a header or CAI.

The manual says basically what Simplyscion said...well except for the "easy as ****" part.

Why does everyone insist on buying the cheapest, free next day shipping, Chinesium POS they can possibly find? Nothing like doing the same job twice when you have to replace the pump you saved $13 on the first time around.

Why not go on somewhere like RockAuto and look at all of the fuel pumps they offer specific to an xA/xB and pick the one that suits your budget?

And to answer your question...NO. Pumps aren't a 'one-size fits all'.

You need to let your true inner feelings about aftermarket parts out.

BTW, I agree with everything you said.

Doesn't part of being retired mean one has less to do? I'm apparently not doing this right.

Nope...from what I've seen people get busier when they retire. I might as well keep working so I can get some rest.
